This was such a great experience! My roommate was really interesting to the point where I think we will be friends going forward. The staff was very helpful and did everything to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. For anyone looking for a safe, lively place to stay that's near everything, I highly recommend Duo Housing!

I don't like this place; it's one of the cheapest options you'll find in the area, but if you can spend about $10 more, avoid this place and choose the other option.Here the bathrooms smell like pee, you can't wear shoes inside meaning you have to step in pee to use the bathroom or brush your teeth, the place is generally clean, it just smells bad everywhere.So if you have enough money to avoid it, I recommend it. The good thing is the location; it's close to public transport stations and bike rentals.

Killer Hostel

The staff here were friendly, fun and helpful. I've stayed it lots of hostels especially on the Appalachian Trail. This one rocks! It is clean, updated and a good location. Met people I will stay in contact with for future travels. Pancakes! Chocolate chip, blueberry and old fashioned every morning and great coffee. The rooftop is a great place to relax and if ya want to cook something up, they got you there too. Room was a little in the toasty side but the humidity is awful right now. Chill down at night so no worries there. I extended my stay a couple times and will choose this Duo next time I'm in DC..

everything was good except the lack of airflow in the sleeping area that made it almost impossible to sleep in, and resulted in everyone flocking to the communal spaces for relief. It was hotter in that area than outside. If you come here, bring a portable fan, without it I would not have been able to sleep here. besides that, it was great!! and the breakfast was delicious!

It was very affordable compared to hotels nearby. The breakfast could use a little more variety, all I got was pancakes but even so it was nice to have free breakfast. It does get very noisy both outdoors and indoors at night, but the other guests were really nice. The staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend if you need something affordable and a place to just sleep. If you need privacy and a place to relax, you won’t get it as you do share the rooms with other people.

Plus: I liked the location, close to downtown D.C. and the metro. It was convenient to leave my suitcase there until my departure from D.C. at 5 pm. It was quiet, clean and safe. Minus: The wifi was sometimes really slow. So was the internet at the PC upstairs. Booking and payment was somewhat complicated - no cash possible, which is unusual for hostels.

This felt safe overall, but the codes to get in didn’t always work, the rooms were very stuffy and smelly. Creaky beds and stairs. We also were not allowed to keep certain items in the bridge. There were also no ice makers, just trays. Too expensive for a hostel.

This was the first time I stayes at a hostel. I was a bit apprehensive about sharing a room with complete strangers and using shared facilities. But now I regret having lost the chance to do that in my previous trips. The place is beautiful, clean, well equipped and meticulously maintained. The staff are real gems. Truly caring and helpful. Cleaning ladies are salt of the earth. They prepare you pancakes every morning and then clean every surface and crevice spotless. And the fellow travellers are incredibly considerate. So if you are looking for an excellent place centrally located walking distance to all attractions and some lovely conversations with people from all over the world look no further. This is it.

This should be a $20 hostel max…. I stayed at a Hostel in the heart of downtown New Orleans (2 min walk from Bourbon st) and the middle of downtown Denver for $30 each after taxes and fees. There’s no privacy curtain for the bunks, there’s no outlets for the bunks and there’s no lockers that will fit a small or regular size backpack. The other hostels had very spacious lockers, privacy curtains on the bunks and an outlets at each bunk and they were a 3rd of the price, those hostels were much more modern and nice inside too. Also there’s a huge window in the room I was staying in right next to the hallway and the light stayed on all night in the hallway so it was hard to sleep. The luggage storage was a little sketchy, every just leaves all their bags in one area and hopes no one steals anything, there’s a camera pointed at the bags but that only does so much. The staff was super nice and friendly, I have no complaints about the staff at all! My frustration is with the price and how little comes with it. It’s way over priced and it’s one of the worst hostels I’ve stayed at. Again, not the staffs fault but just a very overpriced place for no reasonably sized lockers, in comfy beds, no privacy curtains on the beds, no outlets by the beds and weird shower situations. Also I was overcharged $10 for some reason. It was supposed to be $69 with fees and tax included and my card was charged $79.

Great place that is within walking distance of the Capitol Mall and many restaurants and shops. There is a small grocery market next door but don't expect great prices. Mixed rooms. Everyone I met there was cool. People from all over the world. Restrooms are clean. They have an iron and ironing board. No laundry. Pancake breakfast in the morning starting at 8:30 AM. Internet and phone service inside the building are not great. That being said, you probably don't need internet with so many activities and spots to see in DC. If you need wi-fi, I recommend you find a coffee shop or library to work out of. Staff may or may not take you out partying starting on Thursday night. Great time with, with great people. Totally would come back to the hostel.

This hostel was okay. I booked two people dorm, which turned out to be an annex to the main building. My bedroom was not like the pictures in the website; it was very small and lacked carpet. The floor and bed were squeaky, and when I placed my backpack on the floor, it collected white ash. The largest concern was the lack of security in the building. My bedroom had no lock and anyone comes in at any time. The tiny locker could barely fit an iPad, let alone larger devices like a laptop. The breakfast was only served after 8:30, which is quite late for a morning person. Overall I didn't get why this property had relatively high rating. Perhaps the experience would be different in the main building.
