"This hotel is beautiful, great location at just 15minute walk into town centre. Charge to park the car but it was worth it to have it nice and safe for the two days we were there. Gorgeous area, lovely walk into town. Hotel decor is tasteful but unique, lots of effort has gone into making the place charming. Our room was the Chocolate Orange suite which I highly recommend, the four poster bed is fancy and the bath tub was divine, we have never bathed so much in such a short space of time! The staff were friendly and welcoming, always available when needed and seemed happy to help. I have already passed on recommendations to friends who have enquired after seeing our pictures from our stay. "

"For a budget property like this, expectations need to be pretty low. BUT, this is not too far from the city centre, and it’s a really good price for what you get. The room may be shabby and outdated but it is large, clean enough, the bed is very comfortable with nice and clean bedding. And lots of extras you don’t always find at this price - an ensuing bathroom (with bath), windows in both space, a room large enough to practice yoga, kettle and decent tea facilities, and a communal kitchen. Checking was easy even at 10pm (I was talked through the system by a lady on the end of the phone), and the whole experience was seamless. What’s more, it’s a very quiet location being set back from the road and I slept well here. I would recommend, and would stay again."

"Stunning communal spaces, stairs and bar. That staff are very courteous and helpful. You can even rent an umbrella. There is parking and it’s at the reduced rate of £22 if you pay at reception (£40 outside) Our room was a superior king but faced the station. BE AWARE that rear facing rooms get to hear the trains idle at the station for 15-30 mins at a time despite double glazing. A tip would be to master the air con before bedtime as it’s tricky to use (until you know how) and the rooms get quite warm without it."

"The bathroom needs cleaning properly! The sink had a residue in it ( I wiped it down with a small towel and the only cleaning product to hand….shower gel! ). There is some black mould starting on the tiles and water damage at the bottom of the door frame in side the bathroom. The room was very hot even with the window open jar. It would be really uncomfortable in the summer. We were near a door and it’s really noisy! I was annoyed at being charged £36 for car parking having not been told this at check-in. I would have parked elsewhere."
