"Overall, my stay was a pleasant and straightforward experience - the room was comfortable, everything was in order, and the check-in process was smooth. However, I was quite disappointed to be disturbed by housekeeping early in the morning. As this was a one-night stay and it was well before check-out time, the visit was entirely unnecessary and caught me (and the family) off guard. Being woken up unexpectedly is frustrating at the best of times, and the manner in which staff knocked, and used their key to open the door, was abrupt and rather rude. I'd kindly ask that housekeeping schedules take into account the length of a guest's stay - a single-night booking really doesn't require a morning visit, particularly so early. I hope this feedback is useful, as it's the only thing that put a dampener on what was otherwise a very agreeable stay."

"The hotel is set in lovely grounds and the view from the breakfast room was delightful. Breakfast was a normal hotel spread and well set out. Staff were all friendly and helpful and the room was clean though very dark because I was on the wooded side of the building. The big let down was the state of the windows which must have been neglected for years and had to be propped open with a block of wood left on the window sill. General decoration was in need of a refurb and the main entrance doorway was in need of repainting. I assume the whole building is due an update and I'm sure it will all be lovely next time I book in."

"Overnight stop from Scotland to England Staff very friendly and efficient. Food menu very good. As it was a Sunday, my wife chose the beef sunday lunch and they catered for her gluten and dairy intolerance, and did the same for the excellent breakfast. I chose off the specials board. They also had a good dessert menu, and again, had an option out of the freeezer for my wife. Room was modern with a good modern shower. Will definitely stay here again on our next trip up North."
