This place is a absolute must-visit if you are traveling to Zihuatanejo! The rooms are spacious, spotless, and cleaned twice a day—meaning you always have fresh towels and toiletries without even having to ask. The food was incredible; every single dish I ordered exceeded my expectations. If you love pasta, you have to try the chicken or shrimp Alfredo! A special shoutout to Antonio at the bar, who was incredibly friendly and attentive. Honestly, the entire restaurant and bar staff gave 100% to ensure we had a great experience.

The staff remembered our names, what room we stayed in, the palapas that we were under and were so personable. The food was amazing, the rooms were spacious and modern, the beach was beautiful. We stayed one night because we arrived before the reservation at our timeshare began and we went back TWICE afterwards with a day pass. We kicked ourselves for not staying there the entire time.

Beautiful, well maintained and every staff member we encountered was courteous, smiling and welcoming. We hadn’t sprayed in a Thompson of Hyatt group but will look out for them. Easy to access town and beach restaurants. The 2 restaurants on site were great but If you like local coffee shops there are several excellent local ones including LOOT that also offers local artisanal products- and great coffee and brunch/ breakfasts. ( The hotel could upgrade its pickleball net but at least they had one court marked out!)

The entire Thompson Hotel was excellent. The entire Hotel seems to have been upgraded. We've been staying at the hotel before it was the Thompson and it has never been as nice as it is now. Great management, great staff A wonderful establisment.

This was my third time here and I really love it. It is a small resort on the most beautiful stretch of beach imaginable. Tha staff are very helpful and seem genuine. Our stay at Thompson Zihuatanejo on Playa La Ropa was exceptional from start to finish. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly suited to a relaxing beach escape. The pools are fantastic — peaceful, well maintained, and a wonderful place to spend the day soaking up the atmosphere. The breakfast and dinners at the resort restaurant were a highlight of our stay. We especially appreciated the focus on fresh local produce and authentic regional dishes, all prepared with great quality and care. What truly made the experience special was the staff. Every member of the team was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, creating the kind of hospitality that makes you want to return. And the sunsets… evening walks along Playa La Ropa directly in front of the resort were simply magical. Watching the sun disappear over the bay with the waves rolling in was unforgettable. A beautiful resort in one of Mexico’s most stunning beach locations — we would happily return.
