A Guide to the Best Food in Ipoh

1) Beansprout Chicken at Cowan Street

Beansprout chicken is Ipoh’s take on the famous Hainanese chicken rice, with the only difference being that it’s served with a plate of fresh beansprouts. To find the best beansprout chicken in the city, head on over to Cowan Street where the chicken is said to be the most tender. To get the complete beansprout chicken experience, the dish is best paired with a flavourful and smooth sar hor fun to help you cool down in the hot Ipoh weather.

Cowan Street opens at 6:00 PM, but you might want to arrive at least 30 minutes earlier to get a table! More often than not, you’ll be one of the many waiting in line to get inside. As such, you can’t expect stellar service from the staff at Cowan Street. However, what they lack in hospitality, they definitely make up for with their signature dish!
