We received cookies in the room and sweets when checking in, and there was popcorn which was a nice touch. Pool was fab. "Hotel was fine, breakfast could have been slightly less expensive, but it was fine. The room was recently renovated. US folks beware, as the UK standard, no washcloths. My feeling is that this is tired and old tradition and needs to fall away. The hotel has this funky "3rd party" service that does the convenience store program. It's all self service. This is fine, except when they chained up the alcohol. I can't buy what you aren't able to sell; hotel can't do anything except send you outside....
