"I loved loved my room was perfect Had a great sleep. Amazing view. Staff were polite and great. Only issue was my son and his friend are cycleing on this trip. They brought their bikes inside to a designated location per staff but someone got in theire and stole some of their tools and lowered the seats etc Was to be a secure spot so that was disappointing. Reported the next morning. "

"Awesome Onsen. Quick check in. The two open air mineral baths were clean, comfortable and relaxing. The one with the huge lava rocks, natural greenery and small waterfall on the 5th floor was my favorite. On the 11th floor the afternoon and evening it was gently raining and sitting in the Onsen with rain coming down made me feel one with the rain and hot water. The food was awesome, a huge variety and more than I could eat. The room was traditional Japanese and comfortable. My husband and I enjoyed our 10th wedding anniversary at Yumotokan."

"It was a relaxing stay. Food was amazing. Convenient and easy for non Japanese people to get to and also very accommodating staff. My only complaint with my stay would be the fact the beds were not that comfortable. Especially considering the prices being asked."

"The shuttle to pickup/drop off to and from Ogoto Onsen Station was great; otherwise, it would be a 10 minutes walk with luggage! Our tatami room was very traditional and offered a great view of the lake. Only downside is no blackout curtain so the room is nice and BRIGHT at 6 o'clock in the morning! The 10-course (I think) dinner was interesting and filling; it took us 2 1/2 hours to finish. One note though, the massage was not very pleasant but then again, the appointment was 10pm so I wasn't expecting a great masseuse at that time. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience."

"From the moment of pickup at the Ogoto Onsen station and dropoff, the service was flawless! Check-in is completed while seated in the lobby (rather than standing in queue) and many of the staff speak multiple languages. While the venue is slightly older, it is beautifully maintained and spotless. The 24 component kaiseki dinner is delicious and cheap considering the variety, gorgeous presentation and flavors. N.B. The kaiseki menu is only available in Japanese and even though I'm bilingual, I had a hard time explaining it for my fellow travellers. Google translator was also perplexed... If you have food restrictions or allergies, kaiseki is NOT for you! The breakfast buffet has lots of variety but some may find the smell of fish quite strong since it's grilled at the table. The onsen was recently renovated and now has new dry barrel sauna with great views. Benefit: it's open 24 hours so I was able to enjoy a private experience multiple times throughout the stay (N.B. the barrel sauna closes at midnight). The staff go out of their way to ensure everyone's comfort even when dealing with cultural differences, language barriers, multiple (sometimes unreasonable) and demands from international (and local) guests. #impressed While there are pricier and more traditional ryokans in Japan, we had a fabulously relaxing time at the Biwako Ryokusuitei and wish we could of stayed longer!"
