I was worried about going due to some of the reviews but in general the stay was fine for one night. The tent was clean , the bed was comfortable, shower and AC were good. The WiFi was none existent in the tents . The gentleman in reception in the morning was polite and one nice man in the restaurant also but some of the other staff were just rude which was a real shame . The restaurant buffet dinner and breakfast was great could not fault it . Those that like a drink they did not serve alcohol here which wasn’t an issue. The beach is huge and very quiet which was nice to walk along , there was nothing else to do here. Unfortunately we did not see the turtles as we waited around for an hour and half and gave up but others managed eventually saw some . It was ok for one night but they could make this so much better and encourage visitors to stay longer by improving the facilities in general

This hotel is in an excellent location for turtle watching and spending a day in the beach. The free breakfast is average, the dinner seemed to expensive (12 OMR) and we went to Ras Al Hadd instead. The eco tents need some renovation. Everything was run down and the tent material was moldy in most places. Even when we opened all windows, it still smelled. The bathroom was even worse.

Nice experience!
The staff was friendly and the food was great, both dinner and breakfast. The guided tour to the beach in the evening was good and professional. The room was a bit outdated and is soon in need for renovation.

The reserve is fabulous. This is a great location. The turtle watching was very special. Our guide on the first morning told us all to be quiet and not to use lights from our phones and created a really good ambience for turtle watching. It was lovely to walk together with other guests in silent expectation. Our other guide didn’t lay down the same rules and the group was noisier using phones and lights. Have a consistent standard please! We stayed in one of the Eco-tents that had hot running water and a flushing toilet and the ambience in the camp area is lovely. However, we question how ‘eco’ the tents are in terms of energy use. For example, the fridge was running at full blast whilst it was empty. The air-conditioning unit was very loud and noisy and blasted out air that was very dehydrating. Is there any way that this could be improved? Also if it is possible to avoid plastic water and plastic bottles of shampoo etc.this would help the environment. However, we notice that almost all the water bottles for sale in Oman are plastic bottles so the hotel can only do what it can. The rooms in the tents need refurbishing but probably like all hospitality, Covid has been a real setback to investment in updating things. The restaurant was good, with a variety of choices of food and the staff were very friendly and helpful and kept everything clean. The mocktails were the best we had during our visit to Oman! We had a very memorable stay at the Turtle Reserve and recommend it.

Lovely eco tent
Lovely eco tent. We were unsure about this accommodation as we were spoilt by 5 star luxury in Muscat but the tents had all the facilities we needed and was clean/ spacious. We were unsure if we would see any turtles as it was off season but we saw 5 which was incredible. My only concern would be the way the turtle visits are conducted. They say to be quiet and not use your torch/ flash but so many inconsiderate guests ignored this. The guides are very loud-not sure how upsetting this is for the turtles. Our guide also pulled a baby turtle that had only been born an hour before out of his pocket and then shone a light on it for all to see-it was quite distressing for the turtle. I am not an expert but certain things seemed to be quite invasive for the turtles. The food at the site was lovely and the staff were incredibly accommodating. Definitely would stay for a short stay again

Nice stay, and turtle watching
It was really great the first night in the tents. The second night though was very loud with some families and children running around making noise until 11 PM. The hotel did come and tell them they had to be quiet which was great, but since they are tents you may hear everything going on.

The restaurant food left to be desired especially given the price for the evening buffet. Otherwise the staff was very friendly and helpful and the tent we stayed in was great. Would recommence not having large families with noisy children in the tent area.

No elevator to guest rooms, no hot water in shower, very small window and feeling of being in prison. Cleanliness was ok, breakfast ok but far from great. The turtle watching was poorly organized, masses of people waiting in the lobby and just poor quality announcement of turtles were present or not. Disappointing experience and low quality hotel.

Unique stay
The eco luxury tents are nestled between mountains so it was a unique stay. The bed was big and comfy but the tv wasn’t working. The 2 times complimentary turtle reserve tour was great and interesting. More selections of food in breakfast. We arrived at the hotel at night but no staff assisted us going to the tent and it’s located away from the main building so we just searched the tent number by ourselves

Visit to Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve
It was an amazing experience visiting Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve. Staff are so patient with people (it was holiday when we came, so crowded but they were so patient); foods are great, our room was spacious, accommodating tourist guides. Overall worth it! Although I wonder if they can have Room Service too :)

It’s located inside the turtle reserve, very close to the beach. That’s the point we stayed there because we wanted to join the turtle tour. Patience and long time waiting for low season of turtle nesting are typical I guess, so stay there is more convenient. It’s very basic but pricey

Great tents but questionable turtle conservation..
The eco tents were clean, in great shape with working a/c, showers and lighting. Definitely more glamping than camping - which was great. My only reservation is about the turtle watching itself. It felt like there were too many people there in the evening one as it is open to everyone - and I can’t imagine this is great for the turtle population. It really felt like they took what was a lovely ideal and turned it into a commercial venture hidden under the guises of conservation. Not too impressed.

Great place to watch turtles
We very much enjoyed our turtle watching experience here which was educational, well organised and sensitive to the turtles and their environment. The hotel rooms were very convenient and it's definitely worth staying here as you get priority over external visitors and getting up at 5am is less of a hassle! The room was fairly basic - definitely not luxurious and quite dated. But that was not the main reason to visit. Beach and setting awesome too.

It's about the turtles! Saw several at night and in the morning, it was an amazing experience. No one else in the morning group so it was amazing being alone at the beach (guide was there) watching the turtles return to the sea. Beach is quite nice too, would've liked to spend more time....they allow access 6am-4pm. Stayed at the "luxury" tent. But since used it only for sleeping and checked out at 7am (and "luxury" is relative) I would just opt for the normal room.

Amazing turtle viewing
This was my second stay at the turtle resort. The eco tents are really comfy and the morning turtle sightings are fantastic. I would definitely recommend. The WiFi isn’t good and the tents need a bit of TLC as the zips are coming apart but I wouldn’t expect anything less in a remote area and the reason you go is for the turtles not the WiFi.

Hotel mediocre but completely worth it for turtles
The turtle reserve is amazing; it was wonderful to see these magnificent creatures. The tour guides seemed to care about the turtles and their environment. As for the hotel, while the service was very nice and the room was clean, the walls are paper thin, the shower situation is not appealing, and the place is generally old and creaky with a ton of noise at night.

Good location but disappointing property
Good intention, calm serene place. As we went in August got to see lots of Turtle laying eggs, hatching, baby turtles, sunrise etc. Nice reserve but the property needs some makeover. Not at all true value for money. Highly priced for the rooms with very basic amenities, flush wasn't working properly. Water pressure in shower wasn't good enough. Not enough towels and blankets provided.Breakfast was good and the staff at the restaurants were helpful and quiet supportive.

I like that the property management/staff are respectful and competent with the turtle population that frequent their beach. The accommodation is a combination of respectful rules and regulations to protect the turtles and a clean and pleasant place to stay, which is important as the nearest town (Sur) is 40 kilometres away.

Eco tents looked amazing but were fully booked. Our room on the main hotel block was dated and funky. Nonetheless, I’d stay again any day. As a guest you are in the first group to see the turtles (amazing!). The restaurant food is good and the restaurant staff are super friendly and accommodating, especially for children.

We absolutely loved our eco tent. The night tour did not disappoint. We get to see a mother turtle covering her eggs, another mother hatching her eggs and hatchlings scurrying to the ocean. The dining facility was great, so was the food and the staff.

Ras Al Jinz Stay
We stayed just the one night which is all you need. Seeing the turtles up close was a once in a lifetime experience not to be missed. The hotel was not fancy but it was comfortable and we were well looked after. The hotel was not the reason we came here. The turtles were and we were not disappointed. There is no where to go in the surrounding area so do not arrive too early unless you want to just chill out. There is the museum which, though relatively small, is interesting. We will return with family or friends so they can share the experience

Turtley fine
Ras al Jinz is much quieter than Ras al Had, and this is the only option there. We stayed in the tents rather than the hotel which was a good experience. The room was quite comfortable although the bathroom flooded after each shower (unsurprising for a tent). Breakfast was OK. Recommend doing turtles in the morning - evening much too crowded which spoiled the experience. We were actually quite surprised how many people they allowed on the tours.

THE ONLY OPTION
As there are no other choices close to the turtle reserve it became my *home* by default - basic but comfortable with quite good food available on site in the evening (not included in the bed price) - knowledgable guides to escort you to experience the various stages of turtles nesting - the only downside was having to sit in the corridor outside the rooms (or in the reception area) to access WiFi which was hit/miss at times but overall worth the price due to the location and at least the A/C unit worked (albeit a little noisy!).
