Kobe Portopia Hotel

Kobe Portopia Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"Stayed on 17th floor facing airport, amazing views, great amenities, a massive hotel with normal big hotel amenities (laundry service only). Comfortable beds and pillows. One downside was walls between rooms super thin, lady in room next door coughed all night long 😞, limited sleep had."

"Since we arrived at the hotel at 11 pm, the staff gave us an extra hour for a late check-out. I was unable to use the phone to make a local call, so the hotel staff helped me dial the number to reach my next hotel. The location, the facility, and the quality of the staff are good. However, the only thing that really upset me is that the breakfast service ends at 9:30 am. Due to our late arrival, we went to breakfast at 9 am, and the staff there really pushed us out of the dining area at 9:30 am. I was surprised by this. I thought their service line would close at 9:30 am, and they would allow us to finish our breakfast in the dining area. There was no warning when I checked in. I hope they could be more flexible with their guests about the time for leaving the dining area,"

"I had an overnight layover and this hotel was very close to the airport. They also had a shuttle service available, but I used the train. Nice place to shower and sleep without worrying about missing your flight! There are also some nearby stores to visit and a Lawson's. The Rinku Park is nice to walk around and the station is very close so you can also head to Namba to go sight seeing."

"Rooms very super clean. We stayed in rm. 411 and the outdoor onsen was indescribably amazing. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They offer shuttle within the onsen area which is super helpful. The onsen experience was amazing. Tho’ a bit pricey, I will definitely stay here again as a treat. The Kaseiki dinner was also amazing. It was a lot of food. Almost like tapas as there are many small portions (11 courses in total). After dinner, another onsen. Out of this world experience!"

Grand Mercure Awaji Island Resort & Spa

Grand Mercure Awaji Island Resort & Spa

10/10 Excellent
"This is a moderately priced all inclusive type resort with good views that is very popular with Japanese families with young children. Most people drive. The half board option is good because you get great breakfast and dinner buffets. I was reminded of the buffets in Las Vegas. The food is a big selection of Awaji specialties, Japanese food, and many international dishes, as well as beer and other drinks. This is a very crowded hotel. Line queue registration is used to manage entry to the buffet area. This is not a secluded, quiet resort. The spacious onsen includes a big outdoor bath and a big relaxation area with drinks. The onsen staff manages it very well. The main attraction in this area is the Naruto whirlpools. Public transportation is limited to buses. So you come here for the hotel and the whirlpools."

Kobe PortTower Hotel

Kobe PortTower Hotel

"When a property offers a gym and a hot and ice bath facility, then it has the capacity to really please its guests. I loved using both of those areas. However, when on one night the room is valued at AU$176.and the next night it is AU$53, you sort of raise an eyebrow!!! The restaurant called The Harbour provides a very decent buffet, that is overpriced given there is no opportunity to eat past 9 pm. The HANGOUT on the top floor is wonderfully located but the staff didn’t have a clue what was going on regarding reservations. At the entrance near reception is a claim to be internationally known, yet no one speaks English and neither is there an English menu. I think the property is poorly led, because the staff are very transactional and do not appear to have a sense of mission and awareness as to what they are creating. This property could be so much more. I recommend it, if health facilities are important to you. Bernie Kelly"
