"Well, the staff are nice, but it doesn't make a difference in the rating. The hotel itself is run down. The room is pathetic, a really sad place to come back to after a day in the sun.
And the bugs and bites on your feet and ankles, horrible. So we barely hung out at the hotel itself. The dock has a few wooden chairs that are so uncomfortable, there are literally 2 chairs that are made of fabric, all the others are wood and not a single cushion on site.

"From the moment we walked in we felt the calmness and beauty of Hotel Carolina. We felt so welcomed. I spent HOURS researching the best hotel in Bacalar, and this was absolutely perfect!
