"The highlight was the breakfast which could be improved a light further by lowering the volume of the background music to be less intrusive, removal of cobwebs and the staff being quieter when clearing and setting tables.
The room was good, quiet and warm though the bathroom would have benefited from a shelf for toiletries.
The room we were in had no windows, which probably kept the sounds levels down, and was at the top of two flights of stairs.
The property is within easy reach of Bath being no more than a 10-15 minute walk.
Would I stay here again. Absolutely!"
"I was pleased with my stay at Lansdown Grove. It was clean, the room was cute with an amazing view, and the staff were kind and helpful. It is an old building and you can hear every footstep in the hallway, but it didn’t bother me.
It’s not located in the city center, but it was easy to get to. Just take the bus from the center up the hill and you are there.
I would stay here again the next time I come to Bath. Thank you!"
"The hotel is in a good location with great facilities, spa, car parking, good bar. The rooms are a bit tired and could benefit from a refurb but overall it is very good value for money. We enjoyed our stay and the spa facilities and our room had a lovely view."
"Beautiful hotel. Lovely breakfast. Restaurant staff were fabulous. Reception staff seemed a little bit hassled & were generally a tad abrupt with guests on check out. Concierge very helpful. £40 parking is quite steep bearing in mind it isn’t particularly secure.
The spa is lovely, but hotel guests are limited on when they can use it without paying £70 a head extra - this wasn’t clear prior to arrival. Times are 7-9pm & 8-10am. We had a dinner reservation in town at 7.30pm & needed to leave early for commitments at home. This meant we had a very limited time to enjoy one of the draws of the hotel.
Gym is open 24 hours and is well equipped. Treadmills - one was out of order & the second of three was running slowly when we tried to use it.
Overall a great stay, but I would expect that for the price paid and the rating of the hotel. The niggles wouldn’t put me off staying again, but they might make me look elsewhere first. "
"travel a lot for work and stay in hotels two to three nights a week. I’ve stayed in many hotels, from three-star to five-star. The main reasons I return to a hotel are cleanliness, good service, and friendly staff.
Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was disappointing.
When I arrived, the front desk staff member did not look professional. His appearance was untidy, with his shirt sleeves rolled up showing his tattoo and his nails were dirty. Which made the hotel feel more like a rough bar than a welcoming place to stay.
The check-in was not friendly. He did not say “welcome” or “good afternoon.” He just asked for my last name. When I asked about parking, he told me it was expensive and suggested I park somewhere cheaper five minutes away. I felt this was not helpful and came across the wrong way.
I also asked about food. When he mentioned pizza, which I don’t like. I then asked about a restaurant nearby, and he said it was very good but expensive. I felt there was too much focus on price, which made me uncomfortable.
As a guest arriving in business attire, I expected a more professional and welcoming service. Instead, I felt judged and slightly insulted.
I hope this feedback helps improve the service in the future."
