Breakfast was excellent, location was great. Only down side is the hot water in shower may not be hot enough
Sleeping on Tatami was comfortable, very spacious room with a very big toilet, staff was very friendly and speaks decent English, parking lots can be reserved for the night.
Very convenient location to the train station and the Takegawara Onsen. The breakfast is served by the sweetest, jolliest waitress. It is a very traditional Japanese breakfast and worth the experience.
The rooms are simple with beds on the tatami mat which I found very comfortable. Private bathroom included.
The private family onsen is clean. The only complaint I would have is the sulfur smell coming from the plumbing but as long as the bathroom door is kept shut it was tolerable.

Stayed here for 2 nights. It's a traditional ryokan, facilities look old but otherwise clean. I reserved a parking lot when I booked the ryokan. Check in and out are efficient. The counter staff are very friendly and helpful. My only issue with this place is that water takes too long to warm up. Needed to keep water running for up to 5 mins. Felt so guilty with wasting water but had no choice because the water was really too cold.
The property is a little old, as to be expected from ryokan. But the rooms are big and comfortable, the public bath is small (fits around 4 people) but it’s not busy, and the staffs are nice and helpful.
A quaint little Ryokan in the heart of Beppu! No matter the package plan you made, please do try the Kashikiri (private) onsen! Staffs are friendly and can understand English! All in all 5 stars!
- Convenient location: near the train station
- Japanese-style room - clean and spacious
- You can easily reserve a private onsen bath
- Japanese breakfast - excellent
- Free beverages
- Staff - polite and friendly
- Price is really reasonable!
Staffs are very nice and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. The only negative thing I will say, is, the toilet sink was a bit old.
We stayed there for 3 nights with our dauthers and it was a very cool experience for us. The room was very big and clean. The location is near the bus stop and also the main Beppu train and bus station.
We enjoyed our two night stays. It was an old property but it was clean and the oldness was one of the charms in the hot spring area. There were private hot spring rooms and my daughter who was shy in the public bathroom and I extremely enjoyed. Plus the stuff at front desk and at the breakfast were very friendly.
Nice small inn at the alley of Beppu. Nearby station ten minutes walk, and two more malls nearby. Lots of restaurant around although might not be open during weekdays.
Nice room, helpful staff, very convenient location, excellent breakfast. Bookable private onsen was a plus.
On the downside, parts of the facility need upgrade and the tatami/futon combo was super hard, like a rock in fact. Did my back in!
