If your ideal hotel is an antiseptic concrete box with freezing cold air-con you won't like the Hotel Churchill. If you want a slightly quirky, centrally located room with excellent staff you'll love it. Yes the rooms are small. But everything you need is in it including a bed so comfortable I kept sleeping well into the late morning. The roads outside have a selection of bars and restaurants. All the main attractions are either close or convenient for excellent public transport. It's a 13 minute walk to the tram for the airport. I loved the place and would happily stay in The Churchill again.

The people working at this hotel were just amazing ,polite and helpful. From the moment we stepped into the hotel and left, it was 5 star service. Hotel itself was in a quiet and more local area of Bordeaux, walkable to all places and just exactly where you want to staying for a visit.

Great place to stay
Charming and typically French city centre hotel. Conveniently located for the shops, cultural venues and bars/restaurants. If you have mobility issues it might not be for you as no lift and I imagine parking is a nightmare anywhere in Bordeaux. The manager, Samy, could not have been more welcoming and helpful

Charmant petit hotel. J'ai néanmoins hérité de la plus petite chambre pour un séjour de 2 nuits. Si les autres chambres avaient l'air plus grande, celle que j'ai eu est vraiment limite étant donné le prix payé.

Good location, close to downtown, clean, quiet. Sami from reception was very friendly, helpfull, professiional; I travelled so far in 22 countries and so many hotels, Sami you was the best I met so far and he can be an excellent example for all other hotels.

Love Bordeaux
Our hotel was within 10 minutes of the hub of Bordeaux. Everyone was very courteous and helpful. There was always plenty of activity around the river in the evenings and the atmosphere was very friendly.

I was advised to book a room by the University of Bordeaux. The advice was brilliant. The hotel was superb, the staff were friendly and always looking to help. It was nicely located near to the shops and not more than 13 mins walk thru the beautiful o town centre of Bordeaux to the University where I had a conference. All in all a beautiful experience.

The staff were very helpful, but the hotel itself is an old disappointing facility. One of the rooms was on the main floor with no windows and any ventilation. The other room was on the 2nd floor with no elevator. It is an old building with only 15 or so rooms, very dated. The pictures are deceiving. The price was too high for a very low quality room. I think the rating of the hotel is wrong, it should be more like a 2 star.

Hotel clean , comfortable, recently refurbished. No air con but fan provided. Staff friendly and helpful. Very good value. No lift so beware people with mobility issues.

Good small hotel
The hotel was clean and good for its type. The staff were always friendly. It was a 10-15 minutes walk to the tram station and restaurants including Gordan Ramsey's. The hotel was doing some work to improve its inside but this never affected our stay. They provided a free breakfast for the duration of our stay which I thought was a nice touch.

good and inexpensive hotel near the city center
The location of the hotel was within walking distance of all major attractions in Bordeaux including access to the tram. An assortment of eateries were very close. The only discomforting item is that the rooms did not have air conditioning which can make it rather warm during the hot summer months. The room did have a circulating table top fan. Overall, my experience was good especially with the customer service. The staff was kind and helpful.

It's hard to know what it will be like because it was being heavily renovated while I was there. My room (which had been renovated), right at the top of a steep, winding staircase, was tiny but comfortable. The hotel is very small and feels more like staying in a house, which was nice. The neighbourhood, close to pretty Place Gambetta, is excelent.
