I am a disabled military veteran and was accompanied by my two service dogs first it was a complaint about noise coming from the room with the dogs yet nobody ever came to my room to address it with me t for my departure from the room I folded all used linen and dirty face gloss and towels put everything neatly by a door empty the trash barrels of any trash bags and checked out was never talk to about any noise coming from my room and 3 hours later I get a message from Expedia saying that hotel selling was going to charge me $250 cleaning room fee and when I contacted my bank it was actually $269 so they're just making up prices as they go along I am reporting this place to the better Business bureau in Salem on Monday morning and I also am going to be speaking with the veterans affair agent to tell them how I was discriminated against and so was my service animals I am a disabled military veteran and this is how they thank the veterans of America there was loud noises coming from the hallway as patrons of the hotel was leaving the bar area downstairs and returning to their rooms how come there was no complaints made about that

This was my 3rd time staying in Salem and I’ve only ever booked at the Salem Hotel. Service and stay is always fantastic and the location is wonderful for enjoying downtown Salem. Why stay anywhere else?

The room I had stayed in had suffered severe leakage due to a rain storm which also left both windowsills covered in water. I was accomodated and moved to a different room (with a broken heater) but had taken notice that both of the rooms had incredibly dusty vents which led to poor breathing conditions while staying. I would recommend browsing hotels in the area before booking here and will do so myself for our future stays in the area.

The king suite was perfect for this Dad and adult child. We got to stay together, but have our own privacy too. The rooms are unique, the hotel is in an amazing location, and you can walk to anywhere in town. The real gem of The Hotel Salem, however, is the staff. Every day Doug and Kayla would welcome us back from seeing the sights, recommend a good spot for the next meal, or just chat with us about our time in Salem.

The room felt spacious and cozy all at once. The aesthetics of the hotel are very cool - in that mid-century modern sort of way. The staff was super helpful and accommodating when I needed to modify my checkout time, which was an overall frictionless experience.

The king studio room is unique and makes a great use of available space. Although some items related to fit and finish left a little to be desired all in all was an enjoyable stay. One complaint is with the heat running and sitting to watch tv it was very warm because you are sitting near the vents. Heat doesnt get down near the bed but it was not cold enough to need the heat running most of the night. The large windows that were on ground level were a little unsettling but the blinds fully covered them.

I love this boutique hotel. It is very conveniently located for when we visit family in Salem. The staff is quite friendly and accommodating. The room we stayed in was perfect for us and the hotel has a great vibe. We look forward to staying again in the future.

The Hotel itself was beautiful and clean. The staff was fantastic. The only issue I had with was the water pressure was terrible and it took forever for the hot water to come up. I also think snacks,coffee and tea should be available at all times for hotel guests.

Really loved this hotel’s aesthetic and features like cold and sparkling water on tap in the hallways with jugs to take to your room. The decor is really different and bright. We got a very spacious room with a queen bed and slept well. Nice location on Essex street!

Smallest hotel room I've ever seen. When you walk in the room there is a bed that touches the other three walls - absolutely no room to walk around...none!

I loved everything about The Hotel Salem. We were greeted with super friendly and helpful staff that were knowledgeable about the areas that we were interested in visiting. The bed and other accommodations were cozy, and the hot shower was amazing after a chilly night with fantastic views at their roof bar. The location was perfect for walking were we wanted to go.
