Dean Creek Resort

Dean Creek Resort

10/10 Excellent
"The property is very cute and cozy as well as clean. We loved the cats that greet you upon arrival. The only minor complaint is that you have to ask for ice at the front desk, which is closed overnight and was not open when we departed, but the staff was lovely when we checked in the night before and we had a great stay."

"Very quiet location. Room was clean and comfortable. The only thing I would have added is a chair and desk, maybe instead of the chest of drawers which I never use. Check-in was quick and easy and our request for downstairs rooms was honored."

Scotia Lodge

Scotia Lodge

8/10 Good
"We recently stayed at Scotia Lodge to celebrate my partner's birthday, and overall, it was a memorable experience. The lodge itself is absolutely beautifulโ€”a wonderfully restored historic building that serves as an incredible home base near Redwood National and State Parks. Our room was excellent, featuring a super comfy bed and a wonderful restoration that strikes a great juxtaposition between modern design and historical charm. The standout was definitely the staff. They were exceptionally welcoming and went out of their way to make my partner's birthday stay feel extra special. That said, there are a couple of things to watch out for. First, the on-site restaurant and bar were closed during our stay (which was our fault for missing their posted operating hours when booking, as they are closed on certain days). Still, it's a real bummer since the surrounding area is essentially a food and beverage desert. While I completely understand the staffing and profitability challenges of running a kitchen midweek, when you're the only game in town for miles, it's tough not having anywhere else to grab a bite or a drink on a Wednesday night. The other major downside is that the plumbing needs an updateโ€”the water pressure was near zero, which made taking a shower pretty difficult. If they can get the water pressure sorted, it would be close to perfection. Just make sure to double-check their kitchen hours and pack some extra provisions if you're staying during the week!"

"Plenty of parking. We arrived later than expected and woke the shop owner so that maybe why there was no welcome or small talk. Just pushed the paper to sign through the little window and handed me the key. The place was quiet until early in the morning when the Mexican laborers were continually pounding on the next-door. Trying to wake up one of their buddies. He was either in the bathroom or sound asleep, after that we were all awake. I do realize that has nothing to do with the property or the property owner. Itโ€™s just what happens at lower end hotels. I would stay again, it was clean, seriously outdated, but comfortable and parked right outside my door 4 not a lot of money."

"Itโ€™s an old hotel expect it to be that, but it was clean. I read the reviews so I was expecting it to be old so I was not disappointed. It is a Beautiful hotel with a nice European History. Our room smelled like old cigarettes and old people. My husband had to get the spider and his web off of the ceilingโ€ฆIt was dark even in the day time. We heard a door close very loudly early in the morning and at night. It was Very Loud! Itโ€™s a well preserved place but itโ€™s over due for a complete remodel of the room 110. I only know it this room. Itโ€™s one the best rooms and only two of them. It just smelled so bad I had to use my deodorant as an air freshener. I got home and was charged for room a second time and it was less than what I had originally paid through Expedia. So what is the real price? Our were we gouged on-line? We were there for the Raggae Festival. We paid more booking it on-line and in advance. We were offered a buffet that was being offered due to the event but I think it was expensive for what they offered $65.00 for two for the basics, no smoked salmon, shrimp or mimosas. I am still trying to figure out the resort fees and what makes it a resort? Would I go again? It depends. They have an EV charger which had we known we would have driven our EV they donโ€™t mention it online. We definitely appreciated the shuttle that picked us up and took us to the event although the hotel had no knowledge of it when we called and inquired about it."
