We arrived at the property ~1:10PM. We acknowledged that check-in time is 3PM, and asked the front desk if our room might be available even though we were a couple of hours early. The front desk clerk told us that the room was clean and available, but that we would have to pay a $30 fee to move in earlier than check-in. The clerk was polite, knowledgeable, and efficient -- he was simply conveying to us what the house rules are. We felt gouged by the request to pay $30 dollars for simply moving in early -- something that does not cost the property anything. Totally ungracious on the part of the Roman Spa, shamefully nickel and diming customers .

We do in fact have a 30.00 early check in fee which can also be used to access our three geothermal pools should your not be available prior to the guaranteed check in time. I am sorry you feel that we were nickel and diming you, however ours is a nominal fee compared to many hotels that charge anywhere from 50.00 to even a half day rate for early check in times. Elaine,I'm sorry we did not meet your expectations during your stay. Our spa was completely booked for the weekend being a holiday and we are closed on Monday's. We always suggest booking spa appointments at least 2-3 weeks in advance, especially for a holiday period.
Not clean. No daily house keeping. Not worth the cost.

Jack hammer and construction during our stay by the mineral pools. The hot water system was broken and the pool’s were cold . Going to a Hot Springs Spa with cold pools makes me wonder why they didn’t offer a free return visit in the future? They offered late check out to use their cold pools? They offered a 30% off coupon but couldn’t even deliver that as we checked out.

James, our apologies over the broken hot water pipe which occurred earlier that day. Due to the hot, sunny day and the current hot water in the pools, they were warm until after 6 pm. At that time when they tested the repair, unexpectedly the new pipe split down the middle which is virtually unheard of in the plumbing industry. New pipe was purchased early the next morning, the repair was complete with hot water flowing by noon. We did offer a late check out but also sent you a GC discount for a future stay, which should have been received by now. If not, please let us know. Again, we apologize for the situation, our team worked diligently to complete the repair as quickly as possible. We look forward to serving you in the future.
this was centrally located so we could walk everwhere we wanted to go or just relax in the wonderful pools. very tranquil

I did not like the fact there was no cleaning of the rooms, unless we asked. An early check in cost. The pool was to hot. Otherwise, the staff and the the resort itself was excellent.

I'm sorry we did not fully meet your expectations related to requested housekeeping service. Our geothermal pools are naturally heated and thus we fluctuate the temperatures between 92-96 degrees and do not have a cold plunge pool. I am happy to know you felt our customer service and overall resort was excellent. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you again in the future- maybe during the winter when the pools will feel very soothing at the warmer temperatures.

The location was good, walking distance from the main street.
Lots of flowers and good thermal swimming pool.
The only bad thing is that the buildings have a very poor insulations and you can hear the people talk on the floor below.

The hotel sorely needs an update. It is a roadside hotel with some of the same bathroom fixtures since the 50s and hobbled together until now. The windows are thin. We would hear the bed squeaking a room above and the room rate was shockingly high for such a place. The pool is intentionally overheated -- I could not stay in it without sweating. No service came to our room the entire time (Covid rules) On the positive - it is just off the center of Main Street Calistoga. The farmers market is right out your door. You will know because the windows are so thin you'll hear them setting up. But is in a fantastic small town.

Our resort was first built in 1976 with numerous phases of additional buildings throughout the next several years and the most current building in 2012. I'm sorry our natural geothermal pools which run between 92-104 were too warm for your comfort, our guests love the natural waters and are not in search of a cold pool. We continue to follow the American Hotel Association guidelines related to stayover service but provide contactless exchange whenever requested. Once again, I'm sorry we didn''t meet your expectations and that we will not be able to serve you again in the future.
Had to upgrade to get a down floor unit. Shower/bath drain was clogged and not one drip of water would go down. It would ave beenpretty obvious to housekeeping if they had cleaned the tub.

I'm sorry we did not meet your expectations. Since your reservation did not indicate a need for a first level, we were unable to determine that prior to arrival and thus no other single-bedded units were available on the first level.
Our housekeeping does an excellent job and thoroughly cleaned your room including the bathroom. I'm sorry the tub drain must have flipped down for you since we have checked the tub and it drains without issue. We would also have been happy to have maintenance or housekeeping address the issue for you had we been made aware. Again, my apologies that our facility was not desirable for you at any level despite our lush gardens and 3 natural geothermal pools.
I liked everything about it but it’s not fancy. Wish I could give it 4.5 stars. I would definitely stay there again if in Calistoga.

A lovely hotel, just off the Main Street of Calistoga, brilliant for walking to restaurants, shops etc.
Room a bit dated but good value, the gardens and spa are amazing so well kept. A relaxing stay.

This property had very nice hot springs and was centrally located to shopping and dining. However, the condition of the room was dismal. It felt more like a cheap motel than a Calistoga resort. The kitchenette and bathroom were very outdated. Also, they don't allow children under 18 years old but when we got there two kids were splashing around in the pool. I love kids, but these are thermal hot springs so it's supposed to be a meditative, quiet experience rather than a water park. Overall a horrible room for the $427 I paid for 1 night.

My apologies that we disappointed which is never our intent. I'm sorry to hear you felt the classic rooms were not to your satisfaction. In reply to your observation about children, we accept children over the age of 4 who are well-behaved, however, we only book those reservations directly and not through the OTAs. Our pools are considered "relaxing," "social", and "restorative," we do not advertise them as "quiet and meditative", but indeed, we are not a water park and will inform parents and kids of the rules. Again, my apologies that we did not meet your expectations.
I love how welcoming the staffs are. The pool area was very relaxing. Very nice stay there.

The property is in a great location, but it is very old. Old carpet, old tile, old kitchen, old bathroom, etc. There were long hairs in the bathtub when we arrived, and there was a roach in our bathroom our second night. The walls are thin, and we could hear our neighbors banging around early Sunday morning. We will not be returning.

Diane, I'm sorry to hear your Wifi didn't work as well as you had expected, we strive to provide service throughout the entire property both inside the rooms,at the pool, and in our patio seating areas. In regards to the spa, since we typically do not have direct contact with Expedia guests prior to arrival, we are unaware of the desire for spa services, otherwise, we would gladly have provided that information had we known.
