I stayed in room 11 at Casa De Alba for 9 nights in early September 2023. This was a great hotel with excellent staff and an awesome location. The staff went the extra mile helping me plan my days and navigate the streets of Cartegna. I really enjoyed the pool after a long day of adventuring. My only complaint is there is no hot water unless you ask for it. It was explained that the d city doesn’t have adequate water but I’m not sure if that’s true or not. I would stay here again.

Regarding the hot water, the Old City has infrastructures that date back from the 16th century, and it is has always been an issue, for our villa and any house in the Old City. Even outside of the Old City in the new areas such as Bocagrande, there are still issues.Kind regards

This is a 5* if all that counted is charm character, design, excellent location, and friendly helpful staff. 4* rating is mainly because it presents a number of practical challenges for those expecting your typical luxury / high-end business hotel. Biggest is the lack of phones in the rooms, so even for a cup of coffee, or simple question in the middle of the night you have to lug it down to the reception desk. Again, it’s a wonderful, 5* level property when it comes to charm, character, and design, but definitely not for those looking for more traditional 5* level amenities and services.

Hi Muhamet,Thank you very much for staying with us and for your comment!You are right that in Colombia (and most of Latin America), there is no real 5* standard, but we are a luxury boutique hotel, with a lot of charm as you well said.Our villa is from the 16th century, therefore it has certain limits when it comes to 5* amenities such as a gym, spa etc.However, it represents well the essence of Colombia and Cartagena. We are bettering our amenities every year (this year we added a projector for movie nights and conferences).

Great location, the best is the staff working at the Hotel, they really make a difference. If I ever come back to Cartagena, Casa de Alba would be the place to stay.

We had an amazing stay. This is a historical landmark, and as a result of it being a historical site, there are areas that are not air conditioned. But our room was kept cool and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to meet our every need. Breakfast was delicious. The location is safe and central.

Prioerty is on best street behind walls of the old city. Casa de Alba was built in 1500's and was actual HQ of Sir Francis Drake after sacking Cartagena. History, charm, location and service.

Amazing Property with Warm and Friendly Staff
Our stay at Casa De Alba was perfect. The property is absolutely gorgeous, located right in the center of historic old town Cartagena. The service was incredible. I can't say enough about the amazing and always friendly staff. Antonio was extremely helpful in showing us around the city, making dinner arrangements, island tour, and more. Jorge in my opinion is the best bartender in Cartagena! The food was also fabulous, and you couldn't beat the view/ambience having breakfast on the 2 floor balcony in the morning. We came with 2 children, and everyone had a great time. We look forward to coming back. Thank you to all the staff that I did not mention. Everyone was awesome! Made this last stop on our 3 city tour the perfect end to our vacation.

Best Hotel ever.
Best hotel ever. Totally recommended. Better than the bigger hotels in the old city, plus it has a big historical significance as it was an important house during the Cartagena siege under pirate Francis Drake.

Beautiful old colonial house in the centre of the old city. Surrounded by shops and nice restaurants. Cute roof top with small pool. Very friendly helpful staff (particularly Jorge) and excellent food for room service and fresh breakfast. Highly recommended.

A very small (seven room) boutique hotel, excellent location inside of the "walled city". The staff was amazing and if my travels ever take me back to Cartagena this is, without a doubt, where I would want to stay!

I felt like a queen staying here for a long weekend. The property being on the older side could use a handyman for very minor things but overall it was a beautiful and excellent place to lay my head. I would return over and over again.

What a gorgeous placw. Truly magical.
Wonderful, beautiful treasure of a place. The owner was so welcomong and helpful. The butler tried to charge me 45 US dollars tip when I was checking out though.

Amazing hotel in the center of Cartagena. Outstanding location for walking around the old city and experiencing the museums, shopping, and fabulous restaurants. The pool is amazing and a great oasis from walking around during the hot day.

Cada De Alba is more than amazing!!!!!!
Casa De Alba was extremely well located in the heart of the Walled City. Walking distance to all major sites within the walled city and fantastic atmosphere. We received a welcome drink which made us feel at home from the first moment we walked in. The service was extremely personalized and it felt as if we had our own 24 hour butler. The local cuisine breakfast which was included was top notch. The best part is that was cooked to order, and for a family of three including a child it was very important to have that option. In addition, the quality of the drinks from the bar was like no other. I highly recommend to Mojito by the pool. Hernan, Baker, Antonio, Juan, and Milton (staff) were more than incredible and we will definitely be coming back for a longer stay.

The staff, especially Hernan, was extremely helpful and accommodating. Hernan took care of us - made recommendations for restaurants and islands, booked our reservations and made sure everything was good even on his day off. The facility is beautiful and very cozy. The chef makes delicious breakfast every morning. Best location.

Luxury and leisure at Casa Alba
Casa Alba was amazing! The staff were very professional, friendly and helpful! The hotel had a relaxing tropical atmosphere and was very clean. The rooftop pool had a wonderful view of the Cathedral. Casa Alba is unique and special and gives you a memorable experience!

Considero que hay aspectos mínimos indispensables que se deben de atender como el mobiliario, las sábanas, almohadas está descuidadas las habitaciones x lo menos 2 en las que estuve, no servía el aire acondicionado el agua de la ducha o te quemaba o salía fría nunca se pudo nivelar la temperatura

Hola Maritza,Gracias por hospedarse con nosotros y por su retroalimentación!Estamos decepcionados que no haya disfrutado al 100% su estadía en Casa de Alba.Las almohadas son de alta calidad siempre hemos comprado de marca premium, y se cambian de forma frecuente. El aire acondicionado puede llegar a tener problema, como en cualquiera zona antigua por temas de electricidad y corrosión por la salitre, sin embargo nuestros técnicos y expertos de mantenimiento resolvieron los problemas que pudo haber.Para el agua caliente, ya se ha cambiado el calentador y la tubería fue reparada en Marzo. Ya no existe este problema afortunadamente.Saludos cordiales,
