El Terado Terrace

El Terado Terrace

8/10 Good
"This is a wonderful option if you are comfortable doing things on your own. I appreciated that they have a deal worked out with the taxi service to get you from the ferry landing to the hotel free of charge. I'm glad the arrival notes mentioned that a tip was not included, because it was expected. The driver waited for me to hand him cash. I was prepared and handed him some cash. Upon arrival, there was no one to greet me. The front desk, as it was, was empty. I waited for a while and looked around, but no one was there. Eventually, two women walked up the hill and started walking toward the stairs to their room. I asked if they could direct me to a front desk/greeting area, or where I might find hotel staff. They laughed and said they had the same experience when they arrived two days earlier. They walked me over to the "front desk" window and showed me that inside the window was a key card in an envelope with my last name on it. That is how I found out where my room was. I located my room and let myself in. The room itself was nice enough. It was clean. The bed was comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. I was only staying one night, so I didn't need it, but if I planned to stay longer, it would be nice. The bathroom was small, and the toilet ran all the time. I could not get it to stop running. The shower pressure was low, but that is typical on the island, so I was not surprised. All in all, a good deal. But don't expect five-star service, or any, really."

"The room was great and best shower on our 2 week California trip. The wine happy hour was very good. Had basic continental breakfast of bagels, fruit, a pastry and oatmeal and yogurt. Could have used plain yogurt or oatmeal. Not much amenities like food, spa or bar. However right in the middle of the action and short walk to the Catalina express ferry terminal. Definitely nicer than the other hotels in the area."

"The room was very small, and there was no one at the front desk when we went to check in. But it was very cute. I loved the vintage furniture and decor."
