The location is very convenient, just a short walk from the train station and the main bus station, which made it very easy to travel around the city and take day trips. Flavia was especially helpful and went out of her way to check me in at 2:00 PM, even though the regular check-in time starts at 3:00 PM. "This hotel is close to downtown Catania (about 2 km walk). We were able to choose between a room downstairs or a suite upstairs. We chose the suite because it had a small kitchen and a private terrace. You have to take fairly narrow spiral staircase to get upstairs but this was not a problem for us. We paid to have breakfast every morning. It was quite a small breakfast: coffee, white bread, croissants, cakes, juice and yogurt, but it got us started well. The service was excellent! We were...

Old Town Catania

Old Town Catania captivates visitors with its striking contrast of black volcanic stone against honey-colored Baroque palaces. The UNESCO-listed district reveals Sicily's layered history through ancient Roman ruins and medieval streets. Elephant Fountain stands proudly in Piazza del Duomo, while La Pescheria fish market buzzes with local energy. Wander through narrow cobblestone lanes to discover hidden architectural gems and authentic trattorias serving pasta alla norma. Mount Etna's presence is felt throughout the area in its distinctive building materials. Morning visits to the fish market offer a glimpse into daily Sicilian life that hasn't changed for centuries.

Borgo-Sanzio

Borgo-Sanzio reveals authentic Catania without the tourist crowds. This residential district near the University of Catania offers budget-friendly dining and accommodation options. Local trattorias serve traditional Sicilian fare at area prices. Wander tree-lined streets past modest apartment buildings with classic Sicilian balconies. Picanello-Ognina-Barriera-Canalicchio

Picanello-Ognina-Barriera-Canalicchio blends authentic Catanian life with seaside charm. Colourful fishing boats dot the volcanic stone quays of Ognina harbour. Residential streets wind past local churches and small piazzas where neighbors gather under shade trees. The area offers a budget-friendly alternative to central Catania with easy access via train or bus. Enjoy fresh seafood at harbor-side trattorias or stroll along the Lungomare di Ognina with its scenic Ionian Sea views. Museums and coastal paths provide cultural and recreational options for curious travellers.

Catania City Centre

The Cathedral of Sant'Agata dominates the historic Piazza del Duomo. Ancient Roman ruins emerge between medieval streets lined with wrought-iron balconies. Mount Etna looms majestically in the distance. La Pescheria fish market buzzes with local life and fresh seafood. Traditional trattorias serve regional specialities like arancini and pasta alla Norma. The Teatro Massimo Bellini offers spectacular opera performances. Compact and walkable, this UNESCO World Heritage area perfectly balances tourist attractions with authentic Sicilian daily life.

Contrada Pantano d'Arci

Contrada Pantano d'Arci reveals Catania's industrial character with a creative twist. This budget-friendly area mixes manufacturing facilities with emerging artistic spaces in converted warehouses. Wide streets and worker-focused trattorias offer an authentic glimpse of working-class Sicilian life. The area provides convenient access to the Catania-Palermo highway and railway connections. "This property is incredible. First and foremost, Simone was such a wonderful concierge. From the moment we arrived, she made us feel welcome and truly set the tone for an amazing stay in Catania. The room was modern, spotless, spacious, and had the most beautiful view of the Duomo. Waking up to that view was something special. I only wish I had more time to stay at the hotel and enjoy it. And don’t forget to check out the rooftop. The views over Catania are absolutely beautiful and the perfect way to take in the city. A fantastic property, an incredible location, and wonderful hospitality. I would absolutely stay here again."

"My family and I were stranded in Catania recently, when our flight was grounded for several days due to volcanic activity. We were fortunate enough to have found this gem of a hotel and I can’t begin to express how grateful we are to the family that runs this place. Their kindness to us during a very stressful time was heartwarming. And the hotel itself is amazing. There is an elevator onsite (a real treat among most smaller European city hotels). The rooms are beautiful, clean, and spacious, equipped with a kitchenette, a balcony, and air conditioning. The hotel breakfast (included) was a godsend, as was the onsite restaurant, where we had some of the most delicious meals we had in our month-long stay in Sicily. And the hotel’s location, right in the center of town, allowed us to explore many parts of Catania on foot. The entire staff went out of their way to make things easy and comfortable for us, even driving us to and from the airport when our flight was cancelled yet a third time! If you are ever in Catania do not even consider staying anywhere else!"
