Had a fabulous 2 night stay there for a friend’s birthday. The staff were friendly and helpful and excellent value for money. The room was very quaint and comfortable and the price included a fabulous cooked breakfast. Only minutes walk from town so perfect for exploring Chester. Overall a little gem.

Great place to stay!

Great location in the city centre. We stayed on a Saturday night and it was quiet, with the pub being up a little side street. Quaint room, comfy bed and very cosy. We chose the Continental breakfast and it was excellent. Would highly recommend staying here.

Interesting stay in Chester

We had a lovely stay in Chester...our room was very quirky and interesting. Comfy bed. Staff were very chatty and welcoming. We had a wonderful breakfast..presented well and piping hot. Location good for walking the walls and exploring the town. Would defo stay again.

The Golden Eagle is a historic pub on the edge of Chester town centre (3 minute walk). It has retained its sense of history whilst incorporating a very individual decor and furnishings (sort of shabby chic)! The bedroom was very comfortable and a good size, whilst the breakfast was excellent. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful making our stay even more memorable

What a unique and wonderful stay we had at the Golden Eagle. Rooms are above the pub (but we had no noise issues). The room and bed we comfortable, the breakfast was really good, and the conversations with the bartender, the owner, and the waitstaff were great. Nice people in a quite location just off a main road through Chester. Stay here!

The Golden Eagle pub in Chester is a fantastic place to stay close to the centre of the city. The staff were friendly and very helpful, and it was great chatting to Martin, the owner and chef, about the pub and the music scene. There is even a juke box in the retro-style pub. The room was in the same style with pictures, ornaments and a record player and LPs. And had a very comfy bed. The breakfast each morning was pretty good. A great place at a reasonable price. Wonderful.

Great Location

Lovely old pub in a perfect location for all the Chester attractions, including the race course. Room was comfortable, but cold. In fairness to the owner, we could have moved rooms, but we expected the room to warm up once the heating was on. The breakfast was excellent along with the hospitality. Would recommend.

The Golden Eagle was in a great location. We stayed overnight in a double room. It was a lovely room with character and nice decor. The bed was comfortable and the room and en-suite was spotlessly clean! The only negatives was, it was just a tad too dark with low lighting but restful all the same.The pub below was great, full of character, quaint and a pleasure to drink in. The landlord and landlady who ran the property and pub were really friendly! The breakfast that was included with the room was Amazing! It was a full English breakfast with a lovely vegetarian option and plenty of coffee!

If you're happy staying in a friendly pub, convenient for walking around Chester, then definitely consider the Golden Eagle. The room itself was a good size, clean, with a decent shower room, with its own individual decor. It's not a clinical hotel chain sort of place - it's what you'd expect from a pub - so expect to be able to hear the background noise of a bar if you're in your room at night. But it's a pub with character and we enjoyed a drink when we returned from eating out. Breakfast was good - you have a choice of cooked or continental, and they like to know the night before so they can serve you it at the agreed time in the morning. Really enjoyed our stay.

We had a great overnight stay. The room was as described—comfortable and clean, with a really comfy bed that gave us a great night’s sleep. Excellent central location, very friendly and helpful staff, and a fantastic breakfast to start the day. Would happily stay again!

The Golden Eagle, Chester

WE had a brilliant short stay in Chester. We visited Liverpool by train and Nantwich by bus. The city centre and plenty of restaurants were all within a few minutes walk. The Golden Eagle was first class. The owner and staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. We are already thinking of another stay with them.

Few days away in Chester. The staff were welcoming and friendly, it is a pub so expect some noise. The rooms were clean and had everything needed for a short stay. Great location for all amenities, shops , bars and local history.

Loved the Golden Eagle

Lovely place to stay. Loved the record player in our room, good beer in the bar, friendly and obliging staff, and great continental breakfast. This is our second stay here and we hope to visit again.
