Nice, clean and spacious bedroom with beautiful lake view. Very impressed with the dinner with lots of varieties and it tasted delicious.

Had a wonderful time at the onsen last week. Room came with dinner and buffet breakfast, was quite taken aback when the room didn't come with a shower but we managed by booking a private onsen at night, also it was winter so it wasn't much of an issue. Staff were very helpful, we had a wonderful time and good view of Lake Shikotsu from our room

Onsen was great! So was the service staff including the reception and the waitresses at the restaurants. Had a tatami room which was very comfortable. Dinner was kaiseki, and therefore, really sumptuous. Breakfast was alright and can be better in terms of quality and spread. All in all, we had a good experience!

Very cramp room, service staff for dinner are excellent comparing to the breakfast restaurant service staff excellent dinners very authentic Japanese dishes, as compared to Sapporo spreads

Perfect place in fall!
A most beautiful view from outside onsen to the lake and the mountain. Colorfull scenery, very impressive indeed. There very some unknown black ”beetles” (?) on the room cieling which dropped to my face, neck and arm when I was asleep. Not a nice wakeup call! I could not sleep after 2:30am that night! The dinner was served in our room. We do not like so much eating in our bedroom.

We stayed in a Non~smoking facing lake room which was newly renovated. Dinner added Japanese style grilled fish set ( indoor table BBQ) to our Kaiseki dinner was good experience. Onsens were good and traditional, esp. natural onsen by the lake which required walking 61 stairs each way。 A nice stay for enjoying the hotel only as there were no other shops or convenient stores around.

Excellent food and hot spring facilities. Our family enjoyed so much on the hot spring and the dinner served. The breakfast was local but with vast variety, enjoyed the breakfast time with many dishes to choose to go with rice or congee. The hostel also provided good connection service to the main streets and overall it is a good place for relaxation and family gathering.

Nice traditional hostel. onsen is good. dinner is acceptable. breakfadt is very good. As the location is remote, don't expect any 7-eleven is surrounded. Last remind: no air conditioner in room.

AMAZING HOTEL!! We stayed here for our last night in japan and could not have been happier. The location is absolutely breathtaking and the facilities are superb. The rooms were very comfortable and authentic. We also really enjoyed the Japanese style dinner in the comfort of our room.

The rooms are quite old and has a funny smell. The open air outdoor onsen is muggy and the wooden walkway is dark and creepy. Photos and reality are a huge difference. Dinner is just so-so. Not great. The only saving grace of this hotel is the lake view

Quiet isolated hotel for lakeside peace
This was a beautiful peaceful place to watch the sunrise over the lake. Excellent Japanese ryokan style evening meal- nowhere else nearby to eat! We stayed at end of April, still snow on mountain peaks and some walking trails still closed. Visitors centre further round lake well worth visiting for info.

Quaint Ryokan near the Lake
A more traditional ryokan but onsen was great. I genuinely enjoyed the waters there and the peaceful stay there. Would highly recommend. The view to Marukoma was also one-of-a-kind.

We booked for the room with lake vew which is really very nice. We watched the sun rise from the room. The outdoor onsen scenery is very nice too. Room is not very big though, and no bath room, so slightly inconvenient. Is was nice that our dinner was served in the room though the food is so-so. We will rate 3.8 out of 5. Service wise 2.5.

Traditional Japanese ryokan experience
It is a nice traditional ryokan with a great onsen. It has an indoor and outdoor bath. The drive to the hotel right along Lake Shikotsu was very pretty. There isn't a whole lot to do at Lake Shikotsu, especially when it is rainy. Even the staff recommended to drive back to Sapporo for activities on a rainy day. We stayed there for two nights but one is enough for a traditional Japanese ryokan experience. There isn't shower facilities in the rooms so you must go to the public baths, so beware if you are shy about that.

Good but will not consider to visit again.
Nice place to spend 1-2 nights. Staffs were not that helping or warm. Food was ok but options limited if not a fan of raw food or meat. Everything additional costs a lot, make sure to ask price before using; else will have many unexpected expenses.

Simply unforgetable!
Spent four wonderful days in this paradise. The location is almost heaven, the in-room dinner was more than anyone could ask for and so was the sumptuous buffet breakfast, which included local delicacies. The hotsprings were relaxing and so was the full view of the lake from our bedroom. Simply unforgetable. The only minus, very weak Wi-Fi, but who needs it in such a relaxing environment?

Lake view Onsen
We stayed for 2 days. Facilities are clean. Staffs are friendly, helpful and responsive. Since the hotel is built by the lake, all the restaurants, onsen and room has a lake view. Food are fine. With transportation arranged from sapporo and from the hotel to the lake during snow festival. It is easy to access. Price are very reasonable. Definitely recommend to friends

Wonderful Experience!
Excellent location that provides scenic view of Lake Shikotsu which is surrounded by beautiful mountains. Especially during sunset! Facility is well maintained and perfectly designed for guests to enjoy Onsen bath! Dinner served is fantastic! Give praise to the Chefs and the service staff who have made our dinner a enjoyable experience.

The room had an amazing view. Dinner in the room was delicious and photo-worthy, as was the breakfast buffet. The soaking pools were oh so wonderful. Slept like a baby on the futon. Staff was extremely helpful but not so fluent in English though they try very hard to understand. I speak Japanese so it wasn't a problem for us. Only complaint, the cigarette smoke smell in the room. Take Febreze.

This is an old traditional hotel. Service was great. Dinner was served in room. Food tasted ok. No convenient store near-by. Outdoor public bath is beutiful with natural lake water. Overall a good experience.

Top spot.
Top ryokan we have stayed at. Meal in room excellent, best fish I have enjoyed in Japan. The baths were wonderful and the outside baths overlooked the lake. We enjoyed the outside baths about 10 pm and the stars out over the lake were breathtaking. This was our last stop on a week long motorcycle trip and it was best for last!
