"Nous étions dans le « lodge », comprendre petit studio au sous sol de la maison. Étant en partie enterré, ce studio est dans le noir et sent le moisi en permanence. La chambre est un placard dans lequel est inséré le lit (qui touche tous les murs. Le ménage est à désirer (arachnophobes s’abstenir !). Petit déjeuner très correct. "It was probably the nicest hotel in Amelie-les-bains, which has few operating hotels and not an especially beautiful small town in the Pyrenees. The town is full of retirees and supports elderly French people there to take the cure in the Roman baths. We appreciated the AC and the bike room at the Castel hotel. Most people stay for one night en route to another place. We stayed for 4 days using it as a base for a cycling holiday. The housekeeping is done only once a week in the rooms, and the guest laundry machines were broken so we couldn’t use them. Our studio room was small and in need of updating. There were holes in the wall that needed patching. The staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast was good. It was important to reserve for dinner since the restaurant was full every night with locals and guests bringing their dogs. They have a dog named obelisk and welcome all canines."

"This hotel was booked at the last moment due to the other hotel being unable to supply any food, this hotel ticked all the boxes, quick check-in, secure motorcycle parking (paid), friendly helpful staff, the breakfast was fresh and well presented, the evening meal was also freshly served. Will return again."

"This was a stop for us traveling thru the Pyranees. Great location, but I didn't notice that it was a bare minimum hostel. So no towels, no linens. There is, however, an excellent little french restaurant just 500m down the road. Very nice host. "
