Excellent room and superb breakfast choice. Good view of the station and the cathedral from the breakfast room. I wasn’t bothered by the traffic noise although I could hear it. However I was asked to pay €24 for breakfast and tourist tax. I don’t mind paying but this should be obvious when you book otherwise the price is artificially low.

Great option north of Cologne main train station
Great option if you want to stay close to the main train station. With Christmas markets in full swing I was not able to secure a hotel reservation at my usual hotel to the south of the train station near the Cathedral. The north side of the train station is a bit gritter and I generally don't stay in hotels on that side, but Kommerzhotel had me rethinking that choice. I selected the Hommerzhotel based on location right outside the train station and price. The hotel looks like something from the 1970s on the outside, and the decor on the inside is basic German practical. That being said the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The sauna was NOT in working order, even though it was still a listed amentity, and the radiator heat was a bit temperamental, but I was still overall very happy with my stay, and would consider staying here again.

Close to train station and the Dom.
Excellent location. Not sure you could be any closer to the train station. The Dom is just on the other side of the station as well. Everything is within walking distance. Rooms are nice and fairly large. Front desk was friendly and gave us early check in. The mandarin oranges at reception were a nice touch. My only small complaint would be that there were no USB outlets to charge our phones at the same time. Great place for the price and location.

I liked the property's location - right by the main train station and super close to the main landmark, the Dom and easy to get to the Rhein river. Did not like that the TV only played foreign languages - would have been nice to have at least one English language (or even subtitles). Otherwise, loved the convenience of the location.

This hotel is right across from the train station - which might not be great in other cities, but Cologne is beautiful and the area is near to all tourist attractions ( the Cathedral is 200 yards away!). Hotel was basic but our room was quite nice and very clean.

Although hotel is slightly dated, the position is perfect for exploring Cologne on foot. The staff are amazing, but they definitely need to add coffee making facilities and a fridge.

I booked a two-night stay at the Kommerzhotel Koln June 13-15 2023. The location was decent. As an American, we expect to be able to have air conditioning when we sleep. The hotel could only offer a small fan. My room faced the central station and sleeping with an open window was untenable. I spoke to management the following morning after booking a room at the Wyndham across the street which has air conditioning. The Kommerzhotel management would not consider a refund on my second night even though I exited before checkout. Their only response was we never said we have air conditioning. They have a point but should state this in advertising on travel sights or be reasonably flexible about offering a partial refund. I doubt I am the first to bring this issue up.

Good location and good value
Nice hotel, good breakfast. Good location for cathedral and central station, although the best way to get anyway is to walk through the station. The station is open 24/7 and staffed at all times. Can be a bit noisy as trains are coming and going all the time, and needed to have the windows open as there was no Aircon in my room during a very hot spell. But overall good hotel and I'd recommend it.

The room was clean and comfortable. Convenient location, close to attractions. There is a tunnel that takes you directly to the Cathedral, but the homeless hang out there so the sidewalk was very dirty. So we took a different path back to the hotel after sightseeing.

We were able to check-in at 11am which gave us time to rest after a long train ride. The room and bathroom were huge, compared to the typical tiny hotel room in Europe. Room was quiet despite the hotel was next to the train station. Excellent hotel! Wil definitely stay again when in Cologne.

I stayed here for one night on a business trip passing through Cologne. Walking up to the hotel, the property does look tired and dirty and could do with freshen up. The staff are absolutely fantastic. Very polite and very helpful. The room also looked tired and could do with modernising. Although I was comfortable, the noise outside was quiet loud.

The staff was wonderful. I had a problem and they remedied it as fast ast they could. The location next to the train station, subway and busses is hard to beat. Nothing nut but praise.

Steps away from the train station
The perfect location steps away from the train station. The room was clean, hot shower, and perfect for a solo traveler. My only issue is the older gentleman working the front desk wasn’t very pleasant. On my first day, as I was heading out I stopped by the desk and he was having an argument with someone on the phone. He looked up and rudely asked me what I wanted and I asked if they had an iron. He mumbled something in German and went back to his call. The next day unfortunately he was there again and I asked for an iron and he (once again) was rude. He said he gave me one the day before and I corrected him and said that since he was in a bad mood, I left without getting one. I understand that people have bad days and you can’t always be in a great mood, but when you work in hospitality, you should fake it better.
