I’m sorry your stay was less than expected. I can assure you that the heat is always on! We have hot water boiler heat and have found that it’s inconsistent from room to room which is why each room has a space heater as well. (Some rooms are too hot!) you room being a large suite has two space heaters. It is extremely cold here in winter when the wind blows, so it feels cold. I hope you are able to return in other seasons when it’s more comfortable.

I agree, there are more things to do in Cripple Creek in the summer. That being said, I hope you’ll return when the weather is nicer.

I’m sorry you were uncomfortable. This is an old building with radiator heat. We also have a space heater in each room so that guests can find their own comfort level. If you stay with us again, please bring your concerns to staff. We would be happy to help you find a solution.

Thank you for your generous review! You are right, since the heating is provided by vintage steam heat, there are various temperatures in each room depending on the number of radiators. That's why we provide each room with a space heater. Room 16 has lovely views of the city and the mountains beyond. I’m sorry your stay was less than satisfactory. If you could be more specific about your complaints, perhaps we can change what you find lacking. We do not hide the fact that the hotel is 125 years old. It’s a different experience from a modern hotel.

I’m sorry your stay was not to your liking. We pride ourselves on providing a different kind of guest experience which includes the history of this 125 year old building. If you could be more specific on what you found in “disrepair” I would certainly appreciate your insight. Obviously as the property is more than 100 years old, we are in a constant state of improving the facility. I agree there is no elevator as that wasn’t a priority in 1898. We do not advertise as having an elevator. While we would love to have you as a guest again, perhaps you would be better suited to a modern hotel.

I’m sorry your stay was less than perfect in your eyes. We offer a different kind of lodging experience from the casino hotels. We are only two blocks from the gaming district. There are shuttles that run all night and we urge people to use them if they’re not used to the area, as it IS very hilly and the altitude is over 9500 feet. This is a 125 year old property and there were few elevators in 1898 when it was constructed. However, we pride ourselves on cleanliness and that we offer personal attention. I wish you would have addressed some of these concerns with staff.

I’m sorry to hear your stay was less than perfect. This property is 125 years old. The hardwood floors are original and will creak. The entire building is on one boiler system and it’s true that some rooms have hotter water than others.

Thanks for sharing this review six and a half months after your stay. We have discontinued karaoke since then. Even with live entertainment (certain Saturdays, noted on our web site) we closed karaoke at 10 p.m. That being noted, we hope you will try us again. We understand this property is NOT a bar, and respect that some people would like to sleep after 10 p.m.
