"We had a good experience overall and would consider staying here again, but there were a few things we wish we’d known ahead of time.
The biggest surprise was the $22/night parking fee, which wasn’t obvious when we booked. We also upgraded to a balcony room, assuming it would be private. Instead, it’s part of one long shared balcony accessible from multiple rooms. It was still nice to have outdoor access, but after an uncomfortable interaction with another guest, we made sure to keep our sliding door locked since neighboring guests could otherwise access our room from the balcony.
The staff was friendly, and our room was spacious and clean. One thing to note is that the hotel is much larger than we expected—it took us about 5–10 minutes to walk from the lobby to our room, which felt long after a full day of traveling.
The warm DoubleTree cookie at check-in was a nice touch, although we were surprised it contained nuts and no one asked about allergies first. Fortunately, that wasn’t an issue for us.
The hotel itself is beautiful, with a lovely entrance and charming surrounding area. There are convenient shops nearby, including a corner store stocked with toiletries and a surprisingly large liquor selection. The location was also great for exploring both San Francisco and Sonoma wine country. We especially appreciated the local winery partnership—the bottles available in our room included a buy-one-get-one tasting at St. Francis Winery, and it ended up being one of"
