We were warmly welcomed by staff who were friendly and helpful. Our room was immaculate with all of the amenities we could have wished for. The restaurant was excellent- again staff very attentive, friendly and had a sense of humour! Breakfast was well worth payimg for-plenty of choice and lots of variety for those with special dietary requirements. We slept soundly as the bed was very comfy! Also really enjoyed access to the spa!Would definitely visit again!

Very easy location if you are travelling northwards on the A1. A very leafy part of Darlington. There is a park the other side of the road a bit further on but we didn't go to it. The building has character and history that we like but there are modern rooms if you prefer that style. We have been twice recently and will go again. On the 2 Saturdays we have been there there have been weddings but have not been disturbed by any noise and quite enjoy seeing some of the guests as we go through the hotel! Wifi and breakfast were good.

It was a very good stay, with a real sense of luxury throughout, including the restaurant. The team looked after me well, and I made use of the gym, which was impressive for a hotel. I would definitely stay there again.

Me & my partner stayed here for 2 nights for his birthday, the hotel was nice enough however we had booked an 'executive' room which we were very disappointed with. The room was very large and looked impressive on arrival but after spending some time relaxing we noticed that there were a number of issues including very stained and grubby/worn out carpet, plug sockets by the bedside not working, broken furniture and fixtures, sticky pads on the wall above the bed and no curtains, just very fiddly wooden shutters that did not block out the light at all and made the room feel very uncomfortable and gave a cold atmosphere. There was also a lot of noise from other guests which made us feel quite unsettled. After speaking to reception we were able to move to another room which was much more comfortable but there was still a lot of noise from other guests unfortunately. On a positive note we did try the breakfast which we enjoyed and there was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, The hotel is a beautiful building overall, and everything else was good, we just felt that the room we were given was not as described and not of the standard expected for an executive room.

Wonderful place to stay

The staff were great at the hotel and very helpful. I would recommend to anybody who’s thinking about staying. Ben in the restaurant was a really nice fella. We had a really relaxing weekend here!
