Hotels near Dolphin Quest

"The hotel is located in a very large resort that has multiple hotels. This Ocean tower hotel is furthest from the parking and the resort entrance. They have a tram that moves very very slowly in the resort. Or, we can have healthy exercises and just walk. But, the size of this resort did not help us at all when the smoke detector in our room suddenly went off at 5am in a morning while we were all asleep. We called the front desk for help to turn it off, but the maintenance didn't seem to come to help for a while. So, I called the front desk again and eventually visited the front desk to see when the help was coming. The front desk person didn't really care for the urgency of the situation and only said "the maintenance has to come all the way from the other side of the resort, so it takes time". In the mean time, my husband had to close off the smoke detector speaker on the ceiling with his fingers so that the sound became less loud and I tried opening the window and the room door to ventilate to see if it stops the alarm (but it didn't stop...). The maintenance finally showed up when the alarm kept going for like +20 min and the alarm was removed off the ceiling. The alarm was apparently defective. We were disappointed by the apparent lack of urgency by the hotel personnel and their indifference to the situation. "

"When I arrived, the AC was blasting. I called the concierge and an engineer came, took the cover off the thermostat and change some settings. After that, when the AC came on, it ran at a lower speed. Still somewhat annoying, but less so. Also, I found it surprising how skimpy the toilet paper and the kleenex were, considering it's supposed to be a 4-5 star resort. I thought the music playing by the pool area was way too loud. I did find the breakfast menu food was excellent!!"

"The kitchen in our unit came equipped with everything we needed for cooking; it also had its own barbecue grill which was great for dinners in. The property is well laid out, parking is convenient to the unit and the whole resort feels very high end for an affordable family stay. "

"I have stayed in the Waikoloa Beach area for years, but first time at The Shores. I was very pleased with the unit which had obviously been updated and was nicely decorated. It was appointed with everything needed for a comfortable stay and then some. We enjoyed walking the beautiful grounds. Pool is lovely. The beds were comfortable, however the big pillows were very lumpy and difficult to sleep on. The carpet in the guest room could use a good cleaning, and we missed an indoor dining table. However, the lanai was more than adequate and we used it well. We would go back."
