A brilliant location for exploring Edinburgh, close to the railway station, easy walking to the main sites in the city and loads of excellent restaurants in the Broughton area. Funky interior design which may not be to be to everyone’s taste! Reception staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast staff less so. Overall, really pleased with our choice to stay here.

The room needed a thorough clean with dust and grime in corners, under furniture and anywhere a vacuum cleaner couldn’t easily get. The bar was unavailable due to a private function and the breakfast was average with some of it cold. It is a great location, especially for shopping but it is expensive, looking tired with no sparkle. I won’t be back!

Good hotel. My only comment is that it is not quite a good as the sister hotel in Manchester, which seems to be better in terms of the decoration of the rooms, the dining facilities, and slightly better managed across the board.

the decor intends to be edgy but looks like an Odeon cinema ! attention to detail lacking. Little things like guests having to struggle through a door with their baggage in the gaze of reception, mattress 'care' poor - ours quite deformed and had to be turned, can't sinks have plugs that hold the water and release when plug released ?

The hotel is not pram friendly. We were put on the 5th floor and the lift goes to even floors only. Stairs going into reception, stairs to go to the restaurant, stairs to get to the lift. Room is ok, on the small side but nice bathroom. Staff aren’t the friendliest. Hotel was being painted during our stay which isn’t very convenient either. Good location.

We stayed in the suite for one night and it was an amazing room for the price. Luckily we didn’t have to carry a lot as the lift doesn’t go past the 8th floor so we had to go up 2 sets of stairs to get to the 10th. Room was very clean and we’re also able to order food to the room. Would come again!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Malmaison Edinburgh city hotel, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warm and friendly staff who made me feel right at home. The hotel itself is simply stunning. The interior design is stylish and contemporary, with a touch of elegance. The attention to detail is evident in every corner, from the beautifully decorated rooms to the cozy common areas. Speaking of the rooms, mine was nothing short of luxurious. It was spacious, well-appointed, and impeccably clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. The bathroom was also top-notch, with modern fixtures and luxurious toiletries. Can’t wait to return ❤️💯

Underwhelming, lacked atmosphere and detail!!!!
Not too great. Stayed at most of them before and found them ok and this one I didn’t like at all. The rooms were too dark with no option to set lighting so my partner found this difficult for make up. The bar was small for the hotel size and lacked atmosphere. Room lacked any shelves or draws and the wardrobe didn’t leave room for long hanging. Breakfast was not great except the eggs which were lovely. Overall we were underwhelmed from arrival to leaving. It wasn’t a cheap stay and not being value for money. The location however was excellent.

Not worth the price
Rooms are poorly lit, so much so with all the lights on you need your phone torch to find your stuff on the floor. There was also an old bottle of wine left open in room cupboard. The young long black haired girl on the reception couldn’t lift her head off her hand to say bye when we were coming in at night, then she did the same the next day when leaving, just a mumble whilst looking down fiddling with her chain or something, poor attitude. The Breakfast was cold both days even after we asked for it to be cooked longer as the black pudding was like warm and doughy. Yet it came the same again, clearly hot held, nothing wrong with that though but ensure it’s hot enough and use warm plates. Especially when the hotel so quiet. Every year we go to Edinburgh for birthday and stay somewhere different, can’t recommend here. Only the location is excellent.

Let there be light
Great location , hotel and staff. Excellent breakfast, generous room , good shower and a comfy bed. The only issue is the room lighting coupled with dark colour pallet in the means it’s not great period but really bad for any use of a mirror . Wife could not do hair or makeup , not a good recipe for a completely relaxing stay 😀😀😀

Staff were pleasant and helpful. Cooked breakfast very good but the coffee machine was broken and no one seemed very bothered. Room was comfortable but oh so dark! It was completely depressing to be in and impossible to see properly in the bathroom at all where the look was concrete underground car park. The public areas were much the same so we went out. The location for other places to eat and drink is excellent.

Hotel is in a great location and rooms are a large size compared to most. May be difficult for someone who is disabled to get around due to stairs and lifts not available on all floors. Room was dimly lit and staff seemed a bit frazzled. It was a nice hotel for our brief stay.

The property is an old historical building so there's a lot of challenges with its layout and orientation. Once you get past that, the room was nice, but super dark and minimally equipped.

Steer clear. Dreadful
Was so dissapointed with our stay. We had booked a club deluxe room for 2 adults and 1 child but on arrival we had to pay £30 for a zbed and told the 3rd bed was extra cost. This was not clear when booking. The room wasn't clean and had a broken lamp propped up against the wall. Maybe the dark room and red decor is the Malmaison "vibe" but it was so dark and dreary we could barely see the kettle in the wardrobe. Looked very dated. Only one pillow each. Only plus point was location. Cannot seem to add photos.

Have stayed here before as nice property and good location. Short on pillowcases this time as had 2 pillows with no pillowcases and no choice of pillows the ones provided were very uncomfortable. Room and bathroom nice Would stay again but didn’t have breakfast as ridiculously expensive for breakfast as 32.00

Booked a room for 2 adults and one child. At check in they insisted i had to pay addition if the child needed a bed to sleep in. Not enough towels for everyone and again thats extra. What a scam of a hotel

Hello, Apologies for the confusion, while children do not have and extra separate rate, as cots are free. Our policy does say that an extra bed in the room is 30 regardless of whether the person that needs it is a child or an adult. We do not provide family style rooms that sleep 3 people unfortunately.
