The property is accessible by lots of stairs which make for great views of Cerritos beach. The rooms are clean and have comfy queen bed, bathroom with shower, mini kitchen with refrigerator, Stove, microwave, toaster, sink, pots and pans, dishes, dish drain. The decor is a modern, cool concrete with artsy painting. Breakfast is included with coffee and three choices of quesadilla, eggs with ham and homemade tortillas, or eggs with refried beans. There are extra items on menu to buy for breakfast and lunch and dinner too. The hotel is a short walk distance to the sandy beach which has swimming, surfing, restaurant, dj, surfboard rentals and lessons, beach chair and umbrella rentals, massage on beach for hire. We spent three days on beach chair under umbrella just relaxing. You can walk or run the beach for miles and miles. If you want to walk more you can try out the ten or more restaurants/ bars or drive to them. Also three mini markets in town. Coffee shop where you can adopt dogs. Awesome pizza restaurant. Also restaurants on beach if you want to explore with ocean views. The neighboring town pescadero has farm to table restaurants, breakfast restaurants, ice cream. If you want to go twenty minutes check out todos santos for authentic Mexican vibe and shopping plus restaurants and beaches. This is my third time visiting the hotel.

Surfers paradise! We loved this small surf community with complimentary eggs and ham for breakfast. Not wheelchair accessible all rooms are stair access. Beach has chairs, umbrella and surf lessons for rent. We would totally stay here again and had a great experience!!!

A basic, adequate room situated next to gorgeous Cerritos Beach. Decor and furniture a bit dated; kitchenette, coffee maker and refrigerator are modern with limited pans, utensils for cooking. The free breakfast was coffee, scrambled eggs with ham. More options on menu for $$. Nice small pool in outdoor bar/restaurant area. Location on Cerritos Beach is outstanding!! Several small cafe/bars on beach serve good food and drinks. You can rent surfboard, chairs, umbrellas, take lessons, play volleyball, swim, walk, fish, explore. A laid-back, happy, friendly vibe for all ages.

Moved to this property when the water pump broke at our original hotel. This is decent / nice place with views of Playa Los Cerritos and walkable to the beach. Our original hotel had a modern boho vibe with more of a luxe feel; Desert Moon is more like a surf motel with a casual, modest vibe but the advantage here was a small kitchen with microwave coffeemaker. A huge plus in an area where it's hard to find coffee earlier than 8am! Good size room for two people and comfortable beds. Be advised that you may be walking up several steps (with no railings) to your room. The stairs are somewhat lit at night but it can be pretty dark in Baja so have your phone's flashlight ready.

Great place to relax
The staff was wonderful and so nice. It was in a great location, just a short walk to the beach! Could have used shampoo and conditioner in the room (beach hair), but soap was provided. The rooftop deck was a great spot for sunsets and the infinity pool was refreshing. Breakfast was provided and the food was good.

I liked how close it was to the beach and the view. The hot water was limited however it got it done. The falling stars at night was amazing! :)

Most of the view of the ocean is blocked by a dirty construction site; access requires dragging your luggage up or down many steep stairs; no help from staff; unit is dark with cold cement floor; No chairs to sit in inside; beds have thin mattresses over hard surface; lighting is two stark ceiling lights; met a large roach in the kitchen - we had planned to stay 3 nights, but left after first night.

Amazing stay for us. Ocean waves are a constant soundtrack. Probably the most relaxing, and efficient beach vacation for us yet. Between the beach views, the killer cocktails, that bomb ceviche, and awesome staff...it was perfect for us. We'll be back.

Great place to stay on the beach of Cerritos. Staff is great. The pool is refreshing. Nice to have a typical mexican breakfast included with your stay. The price is great too!

The location was great to the surf break. Garbage, rebar, dogs, no glamorous around the area. Construction going on in front and back. Top room neceyfor ocean view 1,2,3… otherwise staring at old building.

A surf oriented hotel. the kitchen could be more equipped but the overall service was really nice and being able to walk to your surfing spot is sooo nice !

Beautiful site above the surfing beach. Dining was good, staff helpful and welcoming. Basic set up in room, comfortable with large fridge and fun decor. Dirt road to hotel 25 minutes south of Toto Santos.

Clean? Yes. Friendly staff? Yes. Great ocean view? Yes. Comfortable bed? Yes. Large room? Yes. Hot water in shower? Yes. Drinking water? No. This is the only hotel I've stayed at in my 50 years of traveling to Mexico that does not provide bottled drinking water. What gives? It is pretty hard work hauling a 5-gallon jug of drinking water up the numerous steps to your room, so I'm guessing that they just decided not to bother. But at $100 a night (bloody ridiculous price for Mexico, but low for Baja--I think next time I'll go to Mexico instead), I expect to not have to haul my own water.

A rustic, beach hotel with easy walking to a beautiful beach and a cute pool/bar with excellent food. The rooms are definitely created for surfers and beach combers since the rooms are cement and basic but very comfortable!

This hotel does not clean properly. Bath mat was filthy and room barely cleaned…. We even had sand in the bed. No soap or extra roll of TP in room either

The towels were terrible, thin and like sandpaper. The lighting was terrible, felt like a prison cell. Need two nice lamps for brighter, ambient lighting. No mattress pad, gross. Sheets thin and poor quality. Picnic table in room was weird. Felt like a hostel. Not worth the money yet charged. View nice, that was about it.

We stayed here a few years ago and this place was a little gem. When we were there last, the room was clean and the bed linens were basic, but very nice. This time it was a very different experience. The counter and table top were sticky, the bed linens were stained and worn out. When I pulled back the blanket there were several pieces of long human hair on the sheets….decided to sleep on a towel on top of the bed. The toilet seat wasn’t attached to the toilet and the bath mat was wet and had multiple stains. Whoever owns/manages the the place has decided to let the rooms just go to hell. It’s such a shame because the location is fabulous. We will never stay there again.

There were 100 steps with no handrail from the parking area to the top where the office was located. Then you turn around and go back down to your room level. The room was clean but spartan. Definitely no frills.
