"The Tabard Inn (over a hundred years old) is the definitive "shabby chic." Though scruffy-looking (but interesting wherever one's eyes rest) it's an acquired taste that some will lap up and others will wonder where a TV is. I loved its true-to-itself. Now many may not love the steep, narrow staircase that was needed to go up to my room, just barely wide enough for my piece of luggage. Indeed the various stairways and step-downs and step-ups conjured up images of Escher drawings. Yet, it has a huge following with the "hot local crowd in the know" for its evening drinks scene. Checking in, I was surprised when given two $10 chits to be used towards breakfast (or lunch.) I used both of mine and the cooking is Excellent, and plentiful. No one will feel underfed."
"Central location. Quiet surroundings. Staff goes above and beyond to take care of their guests. Would recommend to family and friends. Thank you for a fantastic stay"
"I was only there for about 5-6 hours but was great for what I paid. My only complaint was that the luggage storage is under the bed and can be fairly loud if you are arriving super late and/or leaving super early like I was. I have stayed at others that had luggage storage separated a bit so not to disturb others.
Oh and if you order a cold drink from the cafe next door it is worth getting light or no ice. I finished my drink before I had finished walking down the driveway"
