"This is an update to a review I posted on day one of my trip. When we first checked in, the front desk at the resort had moved us to a different, lower quality, section of the resort. Thank goodness for the friendly, amazing staff at Guest Services! Aris and Angelica, saved our vacation! Angelica, the Expedia concierge, was amazing in helping to sort out our room. She kept in contact with us via Whatsapp throughout our stay to make sure everything was going well with our stay. Angelica went above and beyond! As far as the resort goes, this place is MASSIVE!! Easy to get lost, even with maps and signs everywhere. Be prepared to walk a lot, up and down many stairs as the resort is built on a hill overseeing the ocean. The view is spectacular! As for the amenities, there are so many but unless you’re a VIP member, you only get access to about a third of them. Only 1 free hour of wifi a day for non members or unless you pay for it, no complementary safe for non members, and the two buffets available to non members were very underwhelming. Non members also don’t have access to the coffee shop or ice cream shop, which was a bummer. The a la cart restaurants, if you can secure reservations, that we were able to get into were delicious! Over all, for the right price, we would return. "

"Hope you like mold in your bedroom and food poisoning! Avoid this place at all costs. The only people liking this place are the ones paying extra for VIP or who have a timeshare. But even those people have said this place has gone downhill the last couple years apparently. "

"The staff was awesome! From check in, to dinner in the restaurant, to check out, everyone was so nice and kind and helpful. Check in was seamless, and the staff came up to help us with the controls for the air conditioning. she also sent an email immediately when I left my passport at the desk during check in. We had a wonderful conversation, in English, with wait staff in the restaurant. I think they enjoyed practicing their English. And they went out of their way to prepare a vegetarian dish for us even though there was no vegetarian option on the printed menu. At check out, we asked for a cab to the cruise port, but the male staff member offered to take us there instead. He ended up having to spend 30 minutes driving us to various places to get through immigration and get on the boat. It would have been so stressful without him as our intermediary. All the staff we interacted with went above and beyond our expectations. I would stay here again if I was ever in Puerto Plata again! "

"***WARNING*** This property is undergoing construction renovations. There are many positive features, such as the staff is very attentive, and the housekeeping manages to keep the rooms and even common areas very clean. But if relaxation and resting is your priority, this may not be the best choice, or if you’ve already made a reservation, suggest that your room is opposite side of the construction and renovation area. "

"1. My room was not cleaned during my stay and my bed was not made. 2. Breakfast is not served until 8am IF the workers arrive on time. If they don’t, you likely won’t eat until 9am, which causes serious issues if you have early morning excursions. 3. There is not coffee available in common spaces or hotel rooms as advertised on the booking site, which means you have no coffee until the breakfast opens. 4. We also never found the advertised jacuzzi. 5. The showers were not great and did not function properly."
