"We were hoping to have a relaxing girls' weekend, but it wasn't in the cards at this hotel. The room was lovely. The beds were comfy. The balcony, that we paid extra to have, was dirty with pollen so we could not really use it. I am familiar with pollen this time of the year, but it should have been cleaned for guests to use. In addition to the pollen covered furniture, there were also cobwebs on the chairs. I was really disappointed, because the weather was perfect for it! It didn't even face "historic Darien" as the description said. It was just the parking lot. The room was pretty warm and the a/c didn't seem to work. We ended up sleeping with the balcony door open since it was much cooler outside. That wasn't great because a wedding party was having a good time making noise outside till late in the night. In addition to that noise, our room was located by a housekeeping room and they kept letting the door shut loudly as they were in and out of it in the morning hours. On day two, we had to request a remote for the TV since we didn't have one in the room. The young man at reception brought it up very fast. On the plus side, the bathroom was spacious and the mirror was divine! The shower was huge with 2 showerheads, and the water warmed up super fast. The staff we encountered were all really nice. The food in the restaurant was delicious, but we did not receive our $25 food credit that was listed on Hotels.com site. Would we stay there again? Probably not. "

"Room was clean, although someone's random sock was left on the desk chair. The desk chair was way too low for the desk and it didn't maintain its height (would sink slowly down each time). TV was terrible - only right wing news stations. Breakfast was fine and coffee was good. "

"Young lady at front desk is super nice and helpful. Jennifer in breakfast room is doing a great job. Housekeeping staff is friendly and competent. Great stay! "

"Miss Jessica was lovely. She’s working real hard to make her Southerlodge a great place for travelers. Our room was super clean. The water pressure was amazing. We had a nice long, hot showers. We felt super safe and it was a perfect respite before our long drive. Highly recommend if you’re doing a northeast to Florida trip if you could make it to Townsend Georgia. I wish her nothing but best of luck. "

"Two areas for improvement: 1. Staff should be outgoing and friendly towards guests. Speak up, don't mumble or grunt when replying to a question. Act like you're happy to have a guest, not annoyed. 2. Breakfast items (eggs, sausage, even the coffee) were only slightly warm, not hot. I learned to take my breakfast back to the room and warm it in the microwave."
