"All the outdoor furniture (table and benches) on the terrace (including the wood deck) were completely covered in yellowish dusty pollen and had to be cleaned in order to be used. We sat down unknowingly and our clothes got really dirty from all the pollen. The rubber outdoor sandals were only one size and too small. I’m a womens US size 9 or 39 European size. I had enormous trouble signing into my YouTube account on the tv, which wasn’t the case last time I stayed at a different Rakuten stay...

"とても親切なご主人で気持ちよくご対応いただきました。ただ、設備の古さは否めないためご利用の際は事前に理解しておくことをお勧めします。特に水回りについては他の方も書かれている通りで、水圧はかなり低く、シャワーヘッドを真横に向けてもユニットバスの反対側の壁に水が届かないくらいです。懐かしの混合水栓なので湯温の調整は手動。これが困ったことにお湯側の蛇口を回して適温にしようとしても、あるところより1mm多く開くと触れないくらい熱くなり1mm戻すとぬるい…という状態で、結局真冬の寒さの中ぬるくて弱いシャワーを浴びることになりました。また、朝食付きにしたかったのですがご事情があったのか対応困難とのことで諦めて別途外で食べることになりました。その点も予約後に判明すると困る方もいるかも知れませんので事前の確認をお勧めします。繰り返しますがご主人のご対応はとてもよかったので、設備に目をつぶればお勧めできる宿です。"

"アンティークな雰囲気の建物と内装、調度。手入れの行き届いたお庭を眺めながらいただく高原野菜たっぷりの美味しいお料理。空いているから…との事で少しお金をプラスして広くてバルコニーのあるお部屋に変えていただき、日常を忘れお姫様気分？で過ごす事ができました。オーナー夫人が大変気さくでお話ししやすく、お庭で沢山写真撮っていただき、来年は薔薇が満開の時期にぜひ来たいと思います。"

"The staff were friendly and the breakfast was simple (green salad, two egg fries, bread with butter and jam, fruits, and a pot of coffee or black tea) but delicious. Personally I liked Peppermint’s breakfast better than buffet breakfast, because we ate everything that’s served. No waste, so eco-friendly. Another thing we liked was a nearby museum. "Pros: • The villa is very clean and spacious. The view from the windows is beautiful — you can even see the snowy mountains. • The staff is kind and helpful. Cons: • A smartphone is provided for communication with the staff, but we didn’t receive a response when we sent a question at night. • The latest check-in time is 10:00 PM, which is not very traveler-friendly. That said, the staff did agree to wait for us when we called to ask about checking in at 10:30 PM."

"If you're looking for an onsen experience this is the place! We were welcomed as we drove up the windy mountain road to the hotel. The check in experience was calm and efficient. Dinner, breakfast and private bath times chosen. The baths are wonderfull, overlooking the river and with views down the forested valley. Dinner and breakfast were amazing, although our kids sadly didn't feel adventurous enough. It was a truly magical experience on our first trip to Japan."

"When I reserved the Suite Room through Expedia, the check-out time for this special room was 11:00 a.m. However, when we checked-in at the facility, the from receptionist instructed us that 10:00 a.m. was the firm check-out time, no exceptions. My wife was feeling ill, so a later checkout time would have been much better. The Dinner buffet restaurant seating was extremely slow, even though we had a time reservation. Breakfast buffet seating was even worse. We had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. We wanted to play table tennis, and we asked 3 different times throughout the evening; however, we were told that the tables had already been reserved all through the evening hours. Each time (4 times) that we physically checked, no one was using the table tennis tables. There were 2 tables, both unoccupied all 4 times that we checked. Terrible service!"

"There are a lot of clutter in the hotel lobby, which makes it feel messy. The hotel looks a bit old, though it is clean. I arrived at the hotel after 10 o'clock at night. When I entered the door, I couldn't see the check-in counter. I went to a counter on the right. There was a card showing “ 百名湯認定証 ”, and add water room “加湯室” was behind the counter. I was about to search everywhere I could in the hotel, when suddenly I saw a man at the far end of the left side, so I chased after him and asked if he was a hotel staff. It turned out that the checkin counter was on the left, and I turned the wrong direction and went to the right. I was indeed frightened at that time when I couldn’t see anybody. Checkin was smooth with the help of the staff. If I haven’t been to the wrong direction, everything would be fine. The breakfast is delicious, and it is a semi-self-service style. Milk, rice, miso soup, bread, tea, etc. are all available for self-service. The mountain view from the restaurant is great."
