The room was barely recognisable from the Hotels.com photos. A very tired hotel. Rooms not well cleaned - dirty walls and very dusty dirty under and behind the bed. The young unqualified staff worked hard and did their best - the lovely young lady who made breakfast did great omelettes.
Got the impression that there’s an absent owner who takes little interest in the business other than to take the profits.
Right in the middle of a tourist place. Could be noisy. The internet connection kept changing the public IP address every few seconds. Could be an issue if you are trying to use remote desktop or SSH, however it should be alright for general browsing or watching youtube videos.
I booked Saigon Odyssey Hotel (Located at 38 Bui Vien Str.) but the receptionist sent us to 40/2 Bui Vien Str. 38 has elevator but 40/2 doesn't. Top floor is 5th. (Count as G/1/2/3/4/5) Narrow stairs. Air conditioner works, but lead time half hour needed. Shower water pressure is rhythmical. Has window but view is wall of next building. Not a card Key, metallic key with thick plastic room number plate. Cheapy bath amenity.

Great Location and Staff
Great location! We were greeted with cold drinks and wet towels upon arrival which was very welcomed and much appreciated. The staff are some of the friendliest we've met on our month long trip through Vietnam and Malaysia. Will bend over backwards to ensure you have a confortable stay. Small hotel, bathroom looks like it has been recently renovated. Downside - noisy but it is expected being on one of the liveliest streets in Ho Chi Minh city. We booked 1 family room for 4 people which turned out to be a bit cramped so if you are travelling as a family best to book two smaller rooms. We initially stayed in 501 but aircon was weak and leaky and bathroom had an unpleasant smell. We were offered other rooms and settled on room (601) which was clean, air con worked well and WiFi was good. We did not have breakfast at the hotel so can't comment.
For a small budget hotel we think this represents great value for money. Fantastic service and staff, clean rooms, laundry service provided for a reasonable price and great location. Would recommend for single/couple/backpacker travellers as the area comes to live at night with plenty to see/do/eat right at your doorstep.

Good choice of small Saigon hotel
Good location in the "backpacker" district of Saigon as well as convenient to other points of interest
Not so pleasant male receptionist especially the shorter guy. Room size is not good for those with big luggage. Location is good but noisy area. The 3 nights we stayed, we heard knocking upstairs throughout the night. What it was...is a mystery. The noise seems to have a timing at constant intervals.
Toilet seat broken and did not fix while we were there. Air conditioner didn't blow cold air, lucky for ceiling fan kept a little cool but sounded like a jack hammer. Breakfast pathetic.
We stayed here only for a night so we just wanted a place to crash. The hotel is in a great location but that's the only plus point of the place. The room we got was small and dingy. The AC wasn't working properly and there was only a small fan on the ceiling. The room wasn't particularly clean. The bathroom was in the same condition.
The room was satisfactory. Although we booked for a ground floor room, we discovered there was none and ended up in the 3rd floor (which is actually the 4th floor). Good thing they had an elevator. The staff are very polite and helpful, always ready and available to meet your needs. The hotel is located in what is called the "Western area" by the locals, so foreigners would feel right at home. However, ask for a back room, as the ones facing the street could become noisy, especially on weekends when there are parties in the bars next door. Although, it usually is relatively silent around midnight. I would stay at this hotel again, especially if I am in a group.
The hotel was surprisingly good for the price we paid! Was shocked that the lift was really small but doesn't affect. The room was clean and well kept just that the airconditioning was not cold enough but fortunately, there was a ceiling fan so it was still alright. The bed was slightly hard and being located in a backpackers district, it was rather noisy despite being on the 7th storey. Hotel staff were really nice and helpful! OverLl, i had a really good experience and do not mind staying at this hotel again!

Nosiy, but cheap and great location
The room was a bit small but clean. Good AC and ceiling fan. The beds were hard and not that comfortable. Central location in the middle of the backpacker area with many restaurants and bars nearby, so it was a lot of noise from the street. Staff was friendly, service ok.
