Didn’t sleep for two days because the floor boards are very noisy. You can hear everyone around you at 430 am. Otherwise nice place.

Must park off site and walk from parking garage with your luggage to the property which is a challenge in the weather and with children in tow. The rooms themselves were nice and large for a family and very quiet for a city center room.

We only stayed one night at Black Friars and wished we had more. The room was cosy and clean and the bed was super comfortable. The staff was very personable and helpful. This was one of our favorite stays of our trip.

We left a pillow in our initial stay but contacted them and they held it for me until we returned which we appreciated. Really good bar and restaurant downstairs and friendly staff. We were able to keep our luggage with them after checkout before leaving for train station. Very accommodating.

This is not a 4 stars hotel. Maximum 6 poor rooms on top of a restaurant The only thing in favour is the bathroom which was recently refurbised

We have 9 rooms all of a very good standard, the whole Hotel was refurbished 3 years ago, and is kept to a very good level. i m sure you didn't stay in all the rooms!!.

Small room over the pub. Very loud road noise. Floor slanted and sides of bed collapse due to so many people having to sit on the bed because there is only one chair. Overall, clean and safe but I would try someplace else if I were to come to Inverness again.

All rooms are of a very good standard, various sizes, due to being over 200 yrs old. and the bed didn't collapse.

LOVED this place! We were just passing through for one night, but we wanted to stay longer because it was amazing. Easy check-in, amazing staff, and the bathroom was a dream come true. Can't beat a walk-in shower and giant claw tub! Thank you for being the best hotel on our honeymoon.

Staff very helpful and friendly, even helped carry luggage up the flights of stairs. They gave us their personal cell numbers in case assistance was needed after hours. Location is very central. Wonderful stay.

Not sure it's a 4 star hotel
This is a very well located property in Inverness, but I did not feel it was a 4 star hotel. It doesn't have a reception. Check in is done by a bartender if the restaurant below the hotel, that cannot address any issues. The manager is contactable via WhatsApp only, no phone in room. They solved many of the issues I raised, but I expect my room not to have issues to solve. The room is extremely small, the towels thin, bed linens rough, the bathroom indeed is ample with a great shower, although the sink faucet was loose . The smell of the air freshener is overwhelming and makes you think they are covering for something. It's an old historic place, so you can hear whatever is happening in the room above yours. Not sure I would recommend the property as a 4 star hotel. As a B&B it's good. The location great.

The room we stayed in was beautiful and super clean! We had a family room and it was very spacious with a separate sleeping area for the kids. Awesome!! The pub below and really good food and it’s in a great location. Our stay exceeded our expectations!

the kitchen was not open due to a gas leak it was very warm and the tiny fan was barely able do anything rooms are small but nice size bathroom and great shower staff very friendly no lounge or reception room steep stairs to rooms

Great location & staff
Great location for Inverness. Short walk from train station, bus station, and taxi stands. Easy walking all over the city. Staff was super friendly. We had the Cromwell room and it was great as my daughter had her own space with twin bunks, table and chairs. Looks out over street. If I had 1 comment it would be we only had a single key and it is on a large paddle...cumbersome and inconvenient if one of us needed to pop out or go back to the room as you need a key at the 1st floor just to get in to the area to take the stairs up to the rooms. There is no "reception" area. A lot of stairs and no elevator so that might be a consideration for some. I don't think there are staff on site overnight like with a hotel, it wasn't an issue for us but just know that going in. Overall made a nice homebase for us for a few days.

Due to road works starting this week our loading bay has been removed to allow for traffic to flow, due to the gas work affecting the business over the weekend which is now being repaired our food and drink offerings have been limited

The bed was very comfortable. The room is a good size for a couple nights, but it’s VERY loud. You can hear everything coming from outside the door and from the pub downstairs. The food at the pub was horrible. Don’t go eat there

We enjoyed staying at Black Friars. The downtown location, while somewhat inconvenient if you have a car, is pleasant because there are so many options close by. Our room was standard European small. At the same time, it was cozy and a pleasant space to be in. We were not as much a part of the pub as we might have hoped. None of the staff downstairs were aware of us as guests. At the same time, the staff was welcoming to all, so not a problem. Be mindful that you will have to lug your gear up one or two flights of stairs. No lifts. By this time in our lengthy trip, we were used to this sort of thing and were feeling strong! Lol. So not a problem, but it could be for some potential visitors. Overall, a nice experience.

Nice find
Very comfortable and clean. Staff were helpful and only a few minute walk from all the main sites in Inverness. There was live music the night we were there which was fun and didn't go on to long so we could get a good nights sleep.

Nice, clean rooms
Our room was very nice and comfortable. Hotel is a short walk from the parking garage & several pubs, restaurants, shops, etc. There were minor opportunities during our stay. One, our room faced the street and road noise, as well as, some people late at night could be heard clearly. If you are a light sleeper request a room that does not face the street. (I believe that is an option.) Two, we had lukewarm water in our bathroom sink & warm (comfortable but not hot if that’s your preference) in our shower. Third, our reservation did not show breakfast was included. The restaurant downstairs does provide guests with a continental breakfast with hot items that can be ordered at an additional charge.
