"The boat journey is exciting and comfortable despite being 8 hrs up river and 5 back. If lucky u meet the researchers and hear about their ingenious projects focused on the flora and fauna and the staff are attentive and wonderful as is the food.
We were up at 4.30 most mornings which is no sweat as u go to bed about 9 pm. The clay licks are disappointing this time of year as the Macaws come rarely and the smaller birds fear the hawks without the macaws on the lick...but the birds accumulate...
"We had an allergy problem. My son is allergic to tree nuts and peanuts. We made the staff and gm aware if it right away. They have all good labeled but had a chicken dish that said chicken and fruit. Come to find out it had Brazil nuts in it. As my son was taking his first bite of chicken ( it was in his mouth). The staff ran out with a fresh piece of chicken and told him it had Brazil nuts in it. When we questioned the GM she said that Brazil nuts are not tree nuts which they are in fact....
"Lacking basic necessities. Electricity limited to 4 hours a day. After 10PM the whole lodge goes pitch black in the middle of the jungle. No furniture in your room except for a bed with no cushioning and rough bedsheets. No hot water. Not even soap or a small mirror in bathroom. Rough unfinished wood on walls. Transport to lodge is done in boats in terrible dirty unsafe boats with no adequate life vests. Two hours on the river to get there. Water getting inside boat and driver scooping it out by...
