"Comfort hotel is always the best no frill hotel available to when visit Japan. It doesn’t have a lot of bell and whistle like other hotel, but it always have reasonable size room and hearty and healthy breakfast to keep you going when travelling around Japan."
"Staff don’t speak English bathroom only on the first floor we were staying at the 4th and no dinner and no breakfast available. Good for a step only one night before Kyoto. "
"Needed to stay here because of work. Even with the air-conditioning set to 19 for the entire night, the lowest the room temperature got was 27. It was difficult to sleep and the hotel staff were quite rude. I don't recommend going here unless you absolutely have to"

"I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay again. The room was very sleek clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The bakery in the lobby was a quick easy way to grab a quick tasty bite before going out for the day. Rooftop bar was very nice. It’s located near the more traditional neighborhood , and was about a 20 minute very pleasant walk to the lively night life district / pontocho alley area. It was a short walk from Kiyomizu dera temple which was awesome to visit . Only downside was it was a bit far from Kyoto station, and with our bags, we opted to take a taxi every time we went to and from. There were some smaller metro stations close by but some of the larger ones to get to the big attractions we taxied to. Overall a small inconvenience and would still likely stay here again!!! "
"This was a great hotel overall. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean and rooms are bigger than typical Japanese hotels. The breakfast is surprisingly really good and well worth it. Free drinks from 12pm-8pm which was great when checking in. Microwaves in common area as well.
Walkable to Gion, Nishiki market and metro.
There are several local restaurants to eat and convenience stores close by. Quiet residential area with nice big Buddhists temple close by.
Highly recommended!!!"
"This is simply a wonderful hotel. From the outside it seems rather like a conventional hotel, but once inside you know you are in a special place--real, traditional Japan, away from crowds, lights, concrete, glass and steel, but in view of surrounding garden spaces open spaces, impeccable interior design with sacred corners and views that let you turn inside and simply relax--even when it's 100 degrees outdoors. The room was beautiful, minimalist, perfectly appointed with a super comfortable bed. I had a view of the interior garden, which I loved. I can't say enough about this wonderful hotel and when I return to Kyoto, this is where I'm staying! Stay there and be happy...."
