Wonderful experience. Anyone who has not stayed at a machiya should stay at one (especially for families and larger groups). Hatoba-an was superb. Clean, lots of room (not just by Japanese standards!), many original touches, a small rock garden, great location near Gion, everything worked perfectly. 10/10
