Better communication and transparency could be improved, about the rules at the searching before reservation and after booking. I was looking for a pet friendly place to stay with my Service Dog, to feel safe and avoid issues (regardless is Service Dog). The place charged $45 fee per dog and apparently per night. Any of this isn’t mentioned during the searching and/or after the booking. Only after the cancellation window passed and the check in, when I find out about this fee, but I thought was a one time fee, not per night, as this is not mentioned. Normally there’s no fee for Service Dog at any hotel. Not satisfied with communication and transparency about these fees in advance.

The property offers a special feel with its unique patina, lending it great character and potential. We enjoyed a warm, clean, and private retreat in our room, complete with a very nice bathroom and a cute view across the road toward the lake. The location is excellent, placing us close to many different places, and we appreciated the strong, reliable Wi-Fi and the cozy downstairs dining area. My wife was upset she was “scolded” when she attempted to sit on couch where breakfast items where. She was not going to eat on it, just checking it out as we own an identical one. She also was upset/insulted the host stated “we are civilized here” As professionals at one of Tampa’s largest trauma centers we are very respectful of the locations we stay.

Very nice B & B in Lake Helen. It could not have been more peaceful. The Island room was clean and comfortable.The breakfast was fine, but not elaborate. Hugo the host, was very pleasant and had a lot of info about the area. A great place to get away if visiting the areas springs or the mystic village of Cassadaga.

Hotel is cute, well located and tastefully decorated ( 2nd floor queen room). Mgr/ owner is attentive, and helpful. However, there is no access to the lake or dock, and nothing within walking distance. Breakfast is limited to cereal, juice and pastries, without having the mgr/ owner cook the pancakes, waffles or eggs (no meat available). Room has a "no eating or drinking sign", toilet ran continuously, and made a "groaning" sound when it was flushed. The owner/ manager called us about the groaning noise coming from the toilet (he could hear it downstairs), and sent a text around 1030pm asking us to turn the water off to the toilet if it continued). We both found the bed to be extremely hard and the room was cold (no individual room ac control). I wish the owners the best, but at close to $200 a night, our expectations were higher. We will not be returning.

A Quiet Cozy Getaway

We had a wonderful stay! The property is beautiful, nestled in a quiet neighborhood with a beautiful lake across from the entrance. The property is beautiful and full of southern charm. The room we stayed in was the Captain’s Room which is nautical themed and featured a jacuzzi tub (I unfortunately didn’t get to test out the jacuzzi function though). It was adorably decorated and very cozy. Breakfast service in the morning takes place in the common area of the office. Everything was delicious and fresh and we got to take treats for the road too. You can’t eat in the room but there’s a cute space to dine in the screened in porch, which was a super fun experience to have dinner with my husband at night! There’s also a property cat. He is sweet as can be. I recommend head pats. 10/10 experience.

Mellowing out in Lake Helen

Hugo was a wonderful host. He suggested various places to visit. He made great pancakes. It was fun watching him feed the ducks. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. The house was quiet and peaceful. It's worth a return trip.
