Nice big hotel. Lots of places to eat and things to do in the hotel. Spacious rooms and good amenities. I stayed at Excalibur while I attended a week long conference at Mandalay Bay Convention Center. I loved the fact that there is a free tram that runs morning to night that goes directly from Excalibur to the convention center (and vice versa). Everything was clean and looked maintained. Staff were helpful.

We were booked in the Royal Tower which is not the tower that has been renovated. The room was clean and comfortable, but had no amenities such as refridge or microwave. The location was convenient in that it was a stop on the tram to Mandalay Bay and Luxor. Check in was completed via kiosk and was quick and easy. Apparently dogs are allowed in the hotel as a dog was present on our floor as evidenced by feces on the hall carpet one day. The bio hazard was quickly cleaned up after being reported.

The self check in is awful and getting someone to help you is a struggle. In addition, I booked two rooms and some how was checked out of the room and spent several hours trying to resolve that. Then the room key stopped working and I had to again wait for the staff to fix that issue. It was a nightmare of a vacation. However, the hotel is nice and there are activities for kids to enjoy.

The check-in experience was disappointing. The self-check-in process took much longer than expected and was inconvenient. Additionally, although I specifically selected a newly renovated room, the room I received appeared outdated and did not meet my expectations. That said, the staff was friendly and helpful throughout my stay and did their best to assist whenever needed. I also really enjoyed the Tournament of Kings show—it was entertaining and one of the highlights of my visit.

The digital self check in was useful due to our flight being delayed. To create a key was a bit difficult since there was no instructions on the app on where/how to create them and since it had been years since we'd been to the hotel was a bit turned around. Fyi, it looks like a coffee station near the front desk against the wall. However, I was able to find someone to guide me through the process. Overall it provided what we needed and a great experience for our friends first time.
