"The rooms could do with a high to low dusting and maybe a deep clean in areas. The room did have everything we needed but it would have been nice to have a free bottle of water in the room. Check in was okay, kind of felt like the agent was only asking questions because he had to and he really didn’t seem interested in the answers, we also never got told that we needed to scan the key card to use the lift. The prices down in the bar are ridiculously over priced. "

"Always wanted to stay here. It was very disappointing to see that despite the extreme costs of venue, which spa access is extra and not included in the room price, the staff were very disorganised and lacking in care. The bed was small and hard. Nicely decorated but it fell short of what a hotel spa should be and not what i expected at all. Buxton also used to be a very beautiful town. Now most are gathered around a wetherspoons boasting about how they define being a regular. Great stuff! Not the historic and beautiful location it once was. I thought this hotel would bring it to life but it is actually just the same dressed fancy! This is why we stay in Europe. You pay for what you get and more. Britain is a rip off."

"A ‘traditional’ hotel well located in centre of Buxton. We stayed in a four-poster room which was a good size and comfortable, however the ceiling is in need of some renovation. "

"Extremely comfortable beds and quiet surroundings with lots of free parking. Pool and spa facilities excellent (but could do with better signs/directions) and very welcome. WiFi is good. Room TVs are very basic and my room seemed to have a fault in the light switches. A little further out from Macclesfield than I was expecting but these are minor niggles. Otherwise, excellent value."

"Property is obviously the grandest in Buxton and a great looking building and ideally placed in the centre of town. Shared areas in the hotel are fine, but the bedroom was an all too common story of ageing English hotels, with a cheap attempt at a refresh but ultimately poorly maintained and not really living up to the expectations of the price and the rest of the hotel surroundings. Some staff helpful but only the 4th member was actually able to find an extra pillow after the previous 3 saying there were none available."
