"I booked a standard ensuite double room but upgraded to the Tudor Suite. I chose this hotel because it is hundreds of years old, which is something we don’t get to experience much in the USA! "Property is clean enough but quite dated. Service was ok, but only ok and opportunities to offer better services were missed often. Breakfast ‘tray’ was a Tesco bag dumped on our table (not in the fridge)with basic white sliced supermarket bread, butter, jam and OJ with a four pint of milk, which is as described but not exciting and as it wasn’t put in the fridge not great with the heat. It was delivered after 9am so too late to be of any actual is for us sadly. This needs 24 hr notice to get so if you don’t prebook it before you arrive it isn’t possible. The grounds are lovely as are the views, and it is nice and quiet. The pool can only be used in times they are not blocked for members only, There was nothing to be very upset about in this place, but very little to be excited about either. There is great opportunity for the owners here to make it amazing due to the superb location."

"Unfortunately, my stay was disappointing. The room was extremely hot and stuffy. While a fan had been provided, there was no air conditioning and the fan did little to improve the lack of ventilation. The room also did not appear to have been cleaned to a particularly high standard. There was a noticeable line of dust behind the radiator, and I found a small puddle of water on the bathroom floor upon entering the room. The sound insulation also appeared to be very poor. The walls and ceilings seemed exceptionally thin, and noise from the room above was so loud at times that it genuinely sounded as though the floor was struggling to support the weight. As a result, I had a very poor night’s sleep. Given the circumstances, I requested a discretionary one-hour late checkout, but this was declined due to what I was told was a high volume of arriving guests the following morning. However, when I left, I noticed the car park was only around half full, which made the refusal difficult to understand. While the staff were polite, the issues with the room, cleanliness concerns, and the lack of flexibility regarding checkout left me feeling disappointed overall."

"Breakfast was good selection, but no mugs. Asked once and they had already been taken by other guests before we could get one. Cold drinks were very disappointing. Kids pool was great with jacuzzi, steam room and sauna - amazing bonus. Evening food was fab. Kids eat free, this should be advertised more. Room was what it was described as and clean, tidy and comfortable. Would be nice if kids bedroom area was in a seperate area."
