The staff at the desk were very nice. We stayed in two different rooms because of a change in plans. One room was supposed to be superior and it was very beautiful but had some drawbacks - the shower didn't drain, the shower head is the kind that could be handheld and it fell off on top of me (causing me to slip and almost fall), there were no trash bins, it was crazy loud at 7am with construction right outside our window (not the hotel's fault but still an issue and in our other room, every time someone closed their door our walls shook and in both rooms the beds were incredibly hard), no drawers to put stuff, the outlet next to the bed didn't work... BUT despite all of that, it's a fantastic location and if you can get an affordable enough price then it's worth it. There's even a small elevator after you go up one flight of stairs.

Great location to Metro, bus and train and old part of city. Lots of eateries and shopping. Loved all the outdoor cafes. Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Elevator starts on 2nd floor so a few stairs coming up. Staff will help. Would return.

The staff and hotel are very good. The area is very provincial, “hood”, and its residents are just living their lives 👍 The hotel location is EXCELLENT for quickly getting to ANYPLACE you want or need to be 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Location good, a miss in most other elements
The location was good, but the following not so good - Room size was not great - shower was above the bath and the doors past the end of their serviceable life - grouting was black in places - shower took 5 minutes to warm in the morning - room was very hot, the air con was only minimal functional and dripped water on the items below it even after it was reported - not enough power outlets - yes a 2 star place, but the elements need to work to get a good rating

Excellent location. Very convenient to everything in Old Lisboa. The stairs inside the hotel were hard on my old legs, the elevator is 2 storeys above street level. Otherwise, the rooms are nice.

Basic hotel
Pros: Close to city center about 10 min walk. Bathroom is clean. Big room for European standards. Cons: elevator doesn’t start at the ground level, you have to take 2 flights of stairs dragging my heavy suitcases to take the smallest LIFT ive seen. Only one person with a suitcase will fit in. Hair dryer in the bathroom was not working. No plastic or paper cups in the bathroom. Grout in the bathroom needs cleaning. If you’re looking for something affordable, clean, and close to the city center this hotel is for you.

The hotel was walkable and the staff was friendly. It is not for people who can’t do stairs as there are a lot of them. It was a simple hotel but it was clean and quiet. The only thing is which it’s not the hotel fault there are a lot of homeless people around the vicinity but you won’t feel unsafe. They leave you alone . Overall it was a good hotel close to everything.

La peor experiencia en un hotel. Para llegar a la recepcion debe subir 18 escalones luego 25 mas para llegar al ascensor. El baño con un olor fuerte todo el tiempo. La bañera peligrosa, la puerta de la bañera rota. En cinco dias no cambiaron las sabanas. El telefono no funciona para hablar con el de recepcion tienes que ir personalmente. Las camas duras y las almohadas. Solicitamos almohadas blandas y no las tenian disponibles. NO LO RECOMIENDO

Cheapest renovation job i ever saw. Only concern for this hotel is profit, not hospitality. Devoid of ANYTHING portuguese. Cheapest plastic floors uneven, mold in shower, whitewashed room no color, toilet seat broken! Stinky chemicals in room and bathroom masking some problem. Just unbelievable anyone would ruin an historic building with cheap plastic and strip a tourists experience of any culture. Why spend thousands traveling if all you get is creapy cheap plastic, whitewash and chemicals. Bed hard. Only thing right about room was linen service (towels sheets), but that is subcontracted.

Great location ,1 min from metro ,near to the waterfront ,loads of great restaurants, lovely hotel old style like a lot of them are,lovely staitcase,tiles in the buildi g rooms basic but has everything you need shower,tv,safe ,very clean ,staff very nice. Definetly recommend staying here,would defstay again if i come to lisbon

This property is beautiful ! The view from this property is breathtaking, The swimming pool is deck front to the river The restaurant deck and indoor seating are great , the food was lovely and the service was great! The gym had plenty of nice equipment the only downside for me is it doesn’t open till 10:30 but no biggie really. Manuela ( front desk women) was absolutely amazing ! She spoke beautiful English ( very helpful for the Americans) She totally helped us organize everything we did in the area from train transportation from Lisbon ,taxis, off property restaurants , winery tours and then once again with her knowledge and making some phone calls got us back to Lisbon, remarkable front desk person! There isn't any restaurants or shops near this hotel but a taxi ride or train ride away you can get to restaurants and shops Great stay Thank you !

The Hotel has no curb appeal, and common areas are limited. It has been remodeled recently and is holding up well. The room is spacious, albeit a bit spartan on the furnishings and amenities. The lift is two dull flights up from street level. and barely accommodates two adults. The breakfast is good. We like it for its location, Some rooms have a nice view - though these are on the streetside, and are prone to noise. The room rate is excellent for this location, We would return.

Central location. adjacent to Rossio metro station; steps from Praca de Figueroa - where all the major buses/trams stop - as well as most day trip buses meet as well. Internet fast. Airconditioning good.

It is a clean, basic hotel in a very good location. Staff is very helpful. You have to walk two flights of stairs to get to the elevator, so if you have heavy luggage, it might be difficult. Otherwise it is a good place to stay.

Grande Pensao Alcobia Review
Room originally booked showed picture of two beds and was called "double standard" we paid extra for this assuming that there were two beds in the room. We were placed into a room with one double bed. Explanation was given that they do not control what hotels.com uploads as pictures, please keep this in mind if looking at photos of rooms you are potentially wanting to stay in. Beds are very hard, if you do not like a firm bed, look for other place to stay. It is quite noisy outside, keep this in mind if you are looking for a quiet space. Staff was helpful and friendly regarding all inquiries we had. If looking for something just overnight, it is suitable.

Enjoyed My Stay!
This little hotel is in an excellent location. The entire staff was as nice and friendly as anyone could ever want. My room was quiet from most noise. Especially outside. All I heard were birds singing. Except on a Friday night, someone was playing loud music, but it stopped at a decent hour. I did hear indoor noise, people in the hallway, and other rooms. But I’ve been told this is a common thing. Nothing was annoying enough to bother me, as I live in a big city, and sleep in ear plugs, anyway, so as not to be disturbed. To be fully honest, my room although as clean as a whistle, and neat as a pin, after being serviced by a very sweet lady…was a bit dated. That was not a problem for me. I slept well, every night. There was one conveniently placed outlet, under the tv, on the wall opposite the bed. To get things closer, I had to move one nightstand to get to another outlet. No kettle, or fridge, but again, not a problem for me. Fridge would have been nice, but I was fine without one. There is one flight of stairs to climb to get to the one…max two person elevator. Also, not a problem for me. Location was great! Close to Rossio metro station, and taxis. Grocery store, shops, restaurants, and cafes are close by. As is, the start of the famous Tram 28, a must do! All in all, an enjoyable stay. If you want a clean, friendly, well located, no frills place to stay…this place was great. If you need more amenities, maybe it’s not for you.

Good location
This hotel is a great location however with that comes noise. This hotel was nice enough, nothing special and stairs for first 2 floors. Breakfast was basic continental. We only stayed one night and moved to a much nicer, newer hotel for same price.

Good stay
Great location on a side street off one of the main squares in the centre. Clean room with effective heating/air con system and no issues with noise. Worth noting that you have to climb 2 flights of stairs before reaching the lift. Rubbish view from my window so you probably need to specify (and pay more) if you want a room on the front of hotel but i didnt mind this time for the low price.

I had called trying to find the place as our internet wasn't working and we couldn't seem to figure out how to get there based on what she was trying to tell us so lady at the desk ran around the corner and down the street to come get us. It was so nice of her!
