Hotel in HELL !
Absolutely the worst hotel (I don’t even call this a Hotel - more like Hostel) This “Hotel” was not clean at all - the carpet and Bathroom had MOLD - bad smell / horrible service !

Location was very good. The room was “tired” but fairly clean. Bring your own toiletries: only hand sanitizer in a dispenser by the sink and liquid soap in the bathtub dispenser. The pool and hot tub were closed for the season, earlier than was indicated in the information provided at booking, one of the reasons for making this choice. We only saw the desk attendant once at check in, otherwise we came and went without seeing a soul.

Nice hotel close to Lake Luzern
The hotel is very close to Lake Luzern and to Old Town Center. Front desk staff is friendly. Room is clean.

We traveled in March. This hotel has potential to be great but it’s missing simple things that could make a traveler feel comfortable. They had no coffee maker in the room, nor even in the lobby. Everything in the near vicinity was outrageously priced. There are signs in the room saying you are not allowed to even eat in your room which is ridiculous! “Due to hygiene reasons?? Give me a break, do it if you want to risk a 100$ fine! I will not return to this hotel based on the cost and what was received.

Nice and affordable hotel
Overall, the hotel is very nice and the price is affordable. I stayed here for 6 nights and I love it. Moreover, the front desk staff and service here is excellence especially the gentlemen who help me and sort out the extension of my stay.

Great location, friendly staff
Easy location from the train station and just a quick stroll into the old town. Right by the river. Worked well for me. Reception team was super friendly. Good size room, basic features..but that was fine for me. I will come back.

Great location. Close to the station and waterfront. The room size was big. Cons: the AC kept turning off and on all night. Also, hotels.com said the checkout as 11 AM but the hotel said it was 10 AM.

A step back in time. Our stay here was perfect. Large room (updated by the hotel) pool and hot tub. Lovely hosts, very friendly. Very close to everything. Would recommend.

Well located hotel, room was clean and comfortable. Only issue would be that jacuzzi and pool area was supposed to close at 11pm (hours stated all arround) and closed at 10pm.

Convenient hotel with nice staff
Hotel staff were very nice and accommodating. We booked a family room but when we arrived the only room available slept up to 12 people. It was a massive room and our kids loved it. The mattresses were not the most comfortable but we only stayed one night and the place did the trick for us. Location was great...one block from the river and a short walk to the train station, old bridge and boat tour dock. I would consider staying here again.

Hasn't been updated since 1983.
Hasn't been updated since the 80s by the look of it. Very very dated. Pool is tiny and not that warm. No tea or coffee making facilities. Shower gel and shampoo from a dispenser on the wall. You get the picture. Good location.

NO A/C, DIRTY, uncomfortable and dirty.
I hate leaving this review because the location is wonderful but...The Hotel is not good quality at all. They have NO A/C so it was quite hot. Our fan in our room did not work at all, we slept with the windows open and the staff, who were very kind, gave us a free standing fan. Problem was our below neighbors smoked on the terrace at 3am and talked our fan sucked in all the smoke and filled our room with it. We would have to close the window and air out the room into the hallway that smelled of curry. The beds are not comfy and are almost on the ground. The room is very outdated and dirty. I stayed in 8 hotels on my trip and this is my only bad review. The location is very good.

successful stay for family of 5!
This room was so comfortable for a family of 5. There was a king size bed, two single bunk beds and a pull out chair bed that our 16 year old found very comfy. It was a quiet and relaxing traditional hotel. The pool was very fresh and a great oasis after a very hot day; the only hotel on our trip (in this price range) that had a pool. It was steps from the main area of Lucerne although slightly off the main street which we were happy about because so that it was quieter. Very respectful hotel staff made us feel safe and welcome.

Nice hotel in great location near to old town.
Great location. Quiet, spacious, comfortable room. No complaints except that it would have been nice to have tea and coffee making facilities so that a simple breakfast might be possible. It was a bit tricky to find - Google Maps was confusing. Walking along the river from the train station would have been most efficient.

Great hotel, watch for hidden fees.
The Baslertor Summer Pool Hotel is perfectly located within easy walking distance to beautiful Lucerne, the main Lucerne metro station, and a secure parking garage. The hotel has a beautiful pool, although the hot tub is less than impressive. The only downside to our stay was that the hotel charged us an additional fee of 25CHF that was not listed in our reservation, although our Hotels.com booking stated the correct number of guests in our party. The hotel staff explained that this was a service fee for having to put in a roll-away bed for our stay and it was not their problem as to what our Hotels.com reservation stated.

Place to stay while my husbands was in hospital
I had 2 suitcases and 2 carryon bags and was told there were no bell hops. Finally man at desk said he would help me. When my husband was discharged from the hospital and ready to return to the US, I asked the girl at the desk to help me get transportation to Zurich from Lucerne. She was very rude and told me to take a bus or the train. I told her that was impossible and could she help me with a taxi. She responded that she was too busy to help me. I had to call our vacation tour guide for help. I was transferred to this hotel because we were to check out of the tour hotel and no rooms were available for me to stay on there. The room was large, clean and convenient

Decent Hotel in Beautiful Lucerne
We were passing through Switzerland on our way from Belgium to Italy and thought to visit Lucerne. The photos of chapel bridge really drew us in and this hotel was in just the right place to access it and Lake Lucerne easily. The room was old fashioned but clean and functioning. The outdoor pool and Jacuzzi were wonderful additions. Since we visited in April 2014, we only utilized the Jacuzzi. We had a fun time, but we just wish the Jacuzzi had been hotter. Wifi was working very well. There is no hotel parking lot however. The hotel advises use of the indoor parking lot around the corner, which for 24 hours costs about 20 swiss francs. Overall, didn’t have an incredibly memorable experience at the hotel, but we were very happy to have visited Lucerne and the Baslertor Summer Pool Hotel let us do that for a decent price.

A clean, cheap, &convenient hotel
Parking and breakfast had to be bought outside and when these prices are added on it was no longer a cheap stay. As a Christian I found it offensive to see a Buddha image on every door and two ornaments of Buddha at the back of the bed. This should have been stated in hotel info.

Decent room with view over the garden and pool area. Was a loud party going on but we were there on a Saturday so good for them. The walls of the room seem very thin as we could hear a lot. I'd would not recommend this hotel on a weekend unless you are a heavy sleeper. The location is perfect and from walking distance from the train station.

Good Location, book during Summer
The ladies at the front desk were very nice, however, we arrived just after 3pm (the designated check-in time) and were informed that our room was not yet ready. No big deal, they said we could leave our luggage with them while we went out and walked around town for a bit....but then they both went into the office and left us standing at the front desk for 5 minutes. They had already given us a key for our room so we ended up just dropping our stuff off in the room. The location was amazing, within walking distance to everything, especially the Christmas Market, Also, the parking garage was very close as well. Unfortunately, The hotel seems to be geared toward Summer holiday and not so much for the Winter travelers. Both the bar and the restaurant were closed, which we were not aware of until we went there to grab a drink....Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. And Lucerne is a beautiful city!

Lovely hotel in ideal location
A great little hotel with a great location only a short walk from the bus station, railway station and boat pier. Everything on hand. The pool area was a little small but a welcome relief from the hot weather. Many restaurants very close by too. Staff seemed helpful and polite. Parking is in an underground car park nearby (few hundred meters max).

great location / nice hotel / but cramped for 5
This hotel is very nice, and one really could not ask for a better location. It is just minutes from the river, old-town, great restaurants, and there is even a chocolate shop next door. It is also an easy (and pretty) walk from the train station in Lucerne. I was also extremely grateful to be able to find a hotel willing to accomodate 5 people (2 adults, 3 children). The only surprise was that the way they accomodated 5 of us was to use every square centimeter of room space for the beds. The room was clearly not meant for 5 people, as with the beds in place, we truly had no room for anything else (we even had to climb over one bed to get to another). But, given how hard it is to find hotels willing to accomodate 5 people, we were still grateful to have such a nice hotel in such a convenient area.

Don’t stay here. Room was tiny our son kept hitting his head on the ceiling when on the top bunk. One of the beds was a fold out lounge and very uncomfortable. Breakfast cost $77 for 5 and was crap. No bacon or sausages and u had to boil your own eggs. Positive-There was a spa and pool.

Great hotel at a fair price
We spent two nights at this hotel in June of 2011. The hotel is in an ideal central location. The service was excellent. I highly recommend this hotel.
