Good price for hostel, water was warm but not hot. Toilet would run if you didn’t jiggle the handle and toilet would leak if you didn’t stop it. Staff was able to fix it. Breakfast was adequate and included which was nice especially for the price. Bedding was comfortable and clean. Only thing I really wanted was hotter water, that would be the only thing stopping me from going back.

The staff was very friendly, but the property was disappointing. The restaurant/bar mentioned was not open — I’m not sure if that’s been true since the pandemic — but I understood that. However, there was mold on my bathroom ceiling. My largest complaint is that when I came to retrieve the luggage they held for me behind the desk during the day after I checked out (which was kind of them), I was able to walk right in, search the upstairs for staff (since no one was at the desk and the front door is unlocked), and — after not finding anyone — grab my luggage out of the closet and leave. Knowing that anyone can walk in and explore the entire hostel and grab my stored luggage without encountering any staff or security measures (I had already checked out so I required no key to do so) makes me certain I would not stay again for safety concerns. Aguas Calientes feels safe overall, but this problem plus the fact that the hostel was basically empty just made it feel unsafe.

The trip was great. The only problem was the reception is not 24 hours and I was locked out as I went for dinner late and couldn’t get back into the hostel.

it is a hostel.. so with that in mind it is clean safe and well located.. great value breakfast included if you just need a place to crash this is the way to go..

It was a lovely place to stay very central to town and train station The food you could buy at the accommodation was excellent and good value. The breakfast was also included and good. I would stay again.

Ecopackers Hostel was the perfect place to relax and unwind during our Machu Picchu trip. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the rooftop bar/restaurant was fun and eclectic. We would definitely recommend staying here to other travelers!

Front desk was friendly but bar / breakfast staff was terrible. She lay on a beanbag chair and watched TV. Never even asked if we needed anything. Room smelled, beds soft and sagged, was noisy as it is right beside train tracks and the bar noise goes right down the hallways. Would not stay here again.

Good choice for a night before/after Machu Picchu
Decent hostel in Aguas Calientes, just what I needed for a quick 1-night stay after Machu Picchu. Pretty basic rooms, but was clean and felt safe. Lockers in rooms with locks. Shower had hot water (and a lot of it)! Rooftop area was nice to hang out, and the breakfast was good.

Allows you to store your pack for free while you are seeing Machu Picchu, can pick it up whenever you return. Includes breakfast that starts nice and early for those doing the morning sighting. Must pay for your room upon arrival and charges extra to pay with VISA so make sure you have the right amount of soles. All around, I was happy with my stay. It was clean and warm and had warm running water.

The Manager/Expedia, We booked two private rooms but the Hotel said no booking found and they do not have private rooms. We are forced to stay in a shared rooms with 4 beds. I expect Expedia and the Hotel should give us an explanation what went wrong. Christina Sham

I don't recommend this place
Service was excellent, location is good since it's a really small town everything is close to either the bus, train or restaurants. Now! Hostel is in really bad condition I don't understand how people can give this place 4/5. Wifi is bad, room was smelly, toilet didn't work properly water was running the whole night, I'm the kinda person who doesn't bother for loud music, but this place was extremely loud and people yelling around the hallway, after a long day hiking this is the last that I would hope for. No, I won't recomend this place! I'm never ever believing in this reviews. Also, breakfast was cold. I

If you want to feel like you're sleeping nightclub
After reading some other reviews, I made sure to request a room far from the bar. The guy at the desk told me it would be no problem since I'd be on the second floor. Wrong. I could hear the bass and loud music late into the night despite having to wake up super early to go to Machu Picchu (isn't that why most people are there)? It was so unnecessary. On top of that, there was a "window" that faced directly into the hall/ stairway so I could hear every time someone was coming up or down the stairs + the auto light from the hallway glared into my room every time someone walked by. Also, I understand it's a hostel, but they should at least include a small bar of soap for the bathroom!! Especially since I paid extra to have a private room/ bathroom. I barely got a wink of sleep and wasn't rested at all. Luckily, MP is so amazing that it's impossible to be disappointed even with lack of sleep!

Great for the price!
Not a bad place at all. Tried to put us in windowless room with two twin beds, once we were moved to the double bed room we had an amazing view! Super cute, friendly staff, nice facilities, free breakfast.. just a bit noisy so bring your earplugs. And we think there is smoking allowed in the upstairs bar and lounge area so the smell will travel. Love the town!

If you like comfort avoid Ecopackers Hostel
I stayed at the Ecopackers Hostel as a friend of a friend recommended it and the location was good for the train, for myself that is all that was good about the hostel. I booked a single room as I wanted to sleep early and get a lot of rest before getting up at 4am for Machu Picchu. When I was checked into my room I was immediately dubious when I noticed the complimentary earplugs which without I wouldn’t have been able to sleep. My room was below the rooftop bar and it was like the party was happening in my room. If you are travelling here and are young and with a group of people I’m sure the bar would be fun. When you just want somewhere to lay your head - not so fun. The room itself was...ok. The towels folded into swans was a nice touch I guess. I seriously considered trying to find another hotel nearby I was that uncomfortable there but as it was only one night and grinned and beared it. I wouldn’t recommend this hostel to my friends or family.

Excellent Hotel close to just about everything.
Room was clean with a TV we did not even use. Wifi was superb allowing us to complete our plans for the remainder of our trip in Peru. Perfect area upstairs to lounge around shooting pool and having some drinks. Definitely recommend.

The rooms without window are not bearable!
We booked a private two bed room with my friend but our room had no windows and a very chemical strong smell. I asked to change the room to one with a window but there were none available that night and we got a bigger room where the air was at least a bit better. The second day we were able to get a room with window. I can only recommend staying here if you can ensure you will get a bed in a room with window basically. Overall the staff was very friendly and helpful during all of this.

Stayed here one night before going to Machu Picchu and it was a great location, close to the train and bus station. They were very accommodating and let me check-in a littler earlier since my train arrived ahead of schedule. The facilities were clean and you can rent towels for 5 soles; they also offered to store my bag for me. The only issue I had was that I booked an all female dorm and there was a mix up and it was actually a co-ed dorm but they switched me no problem. The only thing I can't comment on is the breakfast since I checked-out fairly early. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Great staff, disappointing room.
We stayed at Ecopackers for 2 nights. The staff was very welcoming and helpful to us. They spoke decent English as well. We booked the suite with the private bathroom for additional privacy. The room was very small and requiring some updating including the shower that did not drain and the toilet that leaked onto the floor. This was quickly fixed however the room was very cramped compared to the other "suite" across the hall which looked like a much nicer room for the same price. The restaurant and bar on the top floor was really nice with a pool table and tv and a great view of Aguas Calientes. Good food and decent prices.

Great place with amazing food
This place felt a lot like home. It has everything you need. TIP: It has the tastiest, least expensive food in town! The staff were super sweet. Even if they didn't speak English, they would blush and run off to find someone who did. They found a misplaced phone of ours and were sure to keep it safe and get it back to us too, very honest and trustworthy. The last morning it poured rain, and somehow the drain in our room flooded the space with about an inch of water, so keep your packs off the ground when they're unsupervised! But the staff rushed to take care of it and we were very happy. Very lovely, clean place.

Great place to stay for your trip to Machu Pichu.
Great stay. Loved the breakfast and dinners that we had in the top floor restaurant. The meals were delicious and the drinks were great. It is only a couple of blocks from were the buses for Machu Pichu picks people up from; if you want to be in the first few busses, be prepared to get in line by 4am. Wonderful stay and highly recommended to everyone.

This is definitely a place that caters to college age travelers. A lot of people didn't come in until after midnight so it made it a little hard to get good sleep. I was in a 14 person room so there were people coming and going at all hours.

We had a lovely double room with ensuite. Which has been our nicest room to date. Everything great but room overlooked railway track so a little noisy. But provided us with earplugs. Everything in A.C. is overpriced as a complete tourist trap. But happy with room price considering location

We got to Aguas Calientes and had a little bit of difficulty finding someone to point us in the right direction - bring a map when you arrive! The train dropped us off on the main road rather than the train station in the side of the hill. Otherwise - it is easy to get to, right on the main road. It was simple, clean, easy. Free breakfast that was simple with good coffee and coca tea. The bed was comfortable and clean also, and the shower was large and clean. We stayed in a double room with private bathroom. For the cost - highly recommend. Simple, clean, helpful staff. We were on the 3rd floor, so it was somewhat noisy, but it wasn't too bad. I recommend this for anyone looking for simple clean accommodations, with helpful staff.

The hostel is about 5 minutes walk to the bus station to Machu Picchu and about 10-15 walk from the train station so its very convenient. The staffs were very nice. They also have decent breakfast: cereal, fresh food, tomato, bread and some kind of protein (ham for one day and cheese for the other when I was there). I stayed in the 4 beds for female. There's hot water and we have our own bathroom which is really nice. Cons: there's no hot water at the sink so washing your face in the morning is freezing, there's no hand soap in the bathroom, the railroad is right in front of the hostel (2 steps away) so if you're a light sleeper, the whistle of the train will wake you up during the night.
