Loch Ness Country House Hotel

"This is a very nice property. Staff was friendly, breakfast was great! Nice big room with comfortable bed. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because our non-smoking room reeked of smoke. I might be extra sensitive, but my nose stuffed and I had throat irritation through the evening. We were so tired when arriving I didnt say anything to staff about it, but some good air fresheners and a thorough fumigating of the curtains seems in order. While having nothing to do with the hotel itself; the stretch of the A82 which this hotel is located along is probably the most treacherous road I've ever driven in my 61 years, including lots of European driving. I would highly suggest getting a ride to the property if you want to stay here!"

"Bedroom was very spacious ("huge") and all the basics were there. The finishings in the bathroom seemed a bit tatty, and - it seems petty - but there were three different colours on the lightbulbs around the room, so not really coherently maintained. Would still stay again, though. Breakfast was great, if poorly stocked up."

"Old-World Highland Charm in a Fantastic Location The Royal Highland Hotel is superbly located literally steps from Inverness railway station, making it extremely convenient when travelling with luggage. The moment you enter, the magnificent staircase catches your attention, and the lobby has a cosy, old-world British charm that makes you feel as though you've stepped back in time. Check-in was simple and our third-floor room was spacious and comfortable, with a sitting area, writing desk, TV and kettle with tea, coffee, milk and sugar. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was a good size, with excellent shower pressure and a lovely heated towel rail. There is no refrigerator or apparent air-conditioning, although opening the window kept us comfortable. The old wooden floors also creak considerably. Our only maintenance issue was a slow-draining shower, which I mentioned at checkout. The location is excellent not only for the station but also for exploring Inverness. Restaurants, shops, the River Ness and Inverness Castle area are all within an easy walk. This is an older hotel, and that comes with a few quirks, but its history, character and location make it memorable. We would certainly consider staying again. Rating: 7.5–8/10."

"I have food issues so I require a kitchen. I wanted to stay somewhere reasonably close to Inverness, but not right in it. Beauly was a good choice. The kitchen was a bit small and could use a little more storage space. I would recommend putting a shelf just above the fire blanket. It was sufficiently stocked. The fridge is small, but it was good enough for us. They might have some instructions on how to use the heating system for people who come from North America. We didn’t have a lot of issues, but I didn’t know how to turn the heating on but by the time they answered, I had figured it out. Beauly is small so we could park right outside on the street without charge. They offer a whiskey night where Gary talks about the history of whiskey and there was a tasting of four different types. That night was really fun and they did their darndest to make sure I didn’t have any reactions to food. Gary’s talk is amazing."

"Alors le chalet est bien isolé et le calme est charmant, nous sommes à une très courte distance d’une magnifique forêt 🌳. Si vous aimez marcher ou courir c’est parfait. Le chalet était bien propre et on avait quelques produits de fourni ce qui est très pratique. Sachez toutefois la laveuse est très petite donc vous aurez plusieurs brasser à prévoir. Aussi, il n’y a pas de sécheuse, on doit étendre le linge pour le sécher. S’il fait beau c’est parfait mais dans le cas contraire prévoyez un plan B."
