National Zoological Gardens of Sri Lanka is situated in Dehiwala which is few miles away from capital, Colombo. It was founded in 1936. Its sprawling areas are host to a variety of animals and birds. The zoo exhibits animals but also places an emphasis on animal conservation and welfare, and education. The zoological garden has become the home for hundreds of endemic species of Sri Lanka. And also, due to the great commitment of the staff, this is considered as one of the better zoological gardens in South Asia.
