During the day, the area was perfect. It was very convenient to the train station. However, at night the area was questionable. We absolutely loved staying here! From the moment you walked in staff was friendly and we felt like home. We had a rough start to our trip so feeling welcome meant everything. The hotel itself is super cute, the junior suite perfect for a family very roomy clean & comfortable. Hotel staff weren’t super friendly but answered questions if we had them.The area around the hotel isn’t very nice, but it’s a short walk to town although if you are with kids at night the walk to and from town one the side (Bayerstraße) closest to station isn’t too bad but on the other side along schwanthalerstrabe is very ethnic, with strip clubs, adult shops - very unpleasant so not the best for kids.

The unusual decor is what first attracted me to the Cocoon. The Alps adventure theme was compelling. The elevator simulated a gondola ride up the mountains! The location was ideal - convenient to Munich's main train station. The 'green' features, such as the need to use your room card to have lighting, were not explained at check-in. I suspect that this was partly due to a language issue. Overall, Cocoon was a good choice for a visit to Munich.

Convenient location and was easy to connect to train and other public transportation to explore the city. Lots of restaurants and shops around. Easy walk to the historical city centre. The room was on the smaller side, but it was just fine as I was travelling by myself. Due to it's proximity to the train station, it the area is not as charming or residential as other parts of Munich.
