"The hotel was just magical, from start to finish we loved every minute of HAKONE Setsugetsuka, especially the private Onsen. We also used the bath in our room which was fabulous. Highly recommend this hotel wish is right next to the train station so great if you don't want to walk to far."

"Hotel itself is excellent. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Rooms are huge and beds are comfy. In room onsen is barely large enough for 2, but still a nice feature. Public spa area was great when we were there. Had the place to ourselves at 7am. Might be less pleasant when busier. Only downside really was that we were only there for one night and it was heaving with rain. As a result, didn’t really do any of the things we planned. One note, and this is mentioned on the website, there is construction happening right across the river from the rooms. It won’t last forever but might be worth checking in the near term if that’s something that might be of concern."

"The property had beautiful onsen- hot spring water pools -and a nice indoor onsen. The staff was very sweet and helpful. The ryokan was authentic. We wore Japanese robes and slippers throughout our stay. The rooms had an eating area with a low table and cushioned chairs on a tatami floor, a reading area with two chairs by the window, a meditation space, and a full bedroom. The first night our family had a kaseiki, a lovely multi-course dinner, composed of all kinds of fish and wahgu steak."
