"Beautiful, historic property located on Esplanade. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The pool was nice and well enjoyed by our kids. The only bruise on our stay was due to no fault of the hotel. I had to run out around 5:30 AM and opened the front door of the building from the lobby and was confronted by a bottomless homeless female sleeping on the stoop. She scooted over to the side of the front door but I arranged for my husband to open the front door upon my return as the entrance has a pretty lengthy code entry and I didn’t want to essentially hover over this person while trying to get back into the residence. A general challenge for hoteliers in general in New Orleans but the experience caused me to question my desire to stay outside the beaten path again, especially with kids."

"My room was super clean. The bathroom was impeccable. Plenty of towels. I especially liked that not a lot of other guests were there; it was very quiet despite the busy street. Important detail that Expedia leaves out; there’s no front desk, so check in is between 3-5. They were kind enough to let me in after hours, but you shouldn’t rely on my experience; call ahead! I just got lucky. If it had been in the middle of the night I’d have been in trouble. The charm of staying in an old historic rooming house far outweighs any perceived inconvenience for not having a desk. I would definitely stay here again, and might very well do so next year. Important notes; I keep odd hours, so I didn’t utilize the breakfast. Parking would be a major concern on Esplanade if I’d been traveling with a rental. It’s a busy street. Don’t expect off street parking. It’s a neighborhood! The charm of it was wonderful. I walked all the way to the French quarter in maybe twenty or twenty five minutes and took a taxi home."

French Quarter Suites Hotel

"I stayed at this hotel in early October for a girls trip. When we first got to the hotel around 7:45PM. We followed directions the hotel had sent to us via email. To our surprise, the door it told us to go to was locked and nobody was answering the phone. We called 3 times and then proceeded to call the emergency phone number the hotel gave out. Turns out, the emergency number they give out to guests is to a number that does NOT work with the hotel anymore- hasn't for years. Luckily, the woman gave us an idea to try by going to the hotel next door to check in. It worked thankfully, but I feel the instructions need to be updated and more direct with what travellers need to do. Other than that, the room was clean and very spacious. Upon entering the room, the room and even the bedsheets smelled like mildew. However, the bathroom outlets did not work, so we had to use the living outlets to blow dry our hair. The bathroom shower doesn't properly hold/drain water so the bathroom will flood every time someone showers. The rooms constantly smelled like weed and/or cigarettes. The walls are also thin so you will hear your neighbors. Aside from this, I did like the hotel and enjoyed the fact there was security every night on the property. I also liked we had a key fob to even enter the hotel. Staff was always friendly and helpful!"
